I don't know what the article says but on the back of Friday's Daily Star it says : Diarra -I'm Here for now...

This bloke seems like a reet twat (imagine if he had joined us and that then came out next day in the papers  )

As for Petrov

To me there are good reasons why we didn't sign him......

he was coming off of the back of a potentially career threatening knee injury.
he would only sign a 3 year contract which isn't enough for a player costing nearly £5 million
He's a player guaranteed to walk away after 3 years which means wages and fee combined he would have cost us circa £9.5 million for 3 years or over 60k a week.

No. None of these things. Spurs 'insiders' revealed to the rags that the real reason was that he didn't think he could work with Jol.

I can't think who could have sanctioned that leak.

Great news, I have had enough of these idiots going around seeing how much money they can take out of the English game as opposed to fitting into a club and plying a trade.

I blame Chelsea and their oil millions, failing that - Arsenal 'cos they are barmpot cheating bastards.

I've said it before, Arsenal have let Diarra go, ie : not good enough for them, ergo - Not good enough for our aspirations either.

hehe... what a twat.

(taken from Dailystar)

Lassana Diarra joined Portsmouth yesterday then immediately announced he is already eyeing a move away from Fratton Park!

The French midfielder completed his £5.5m switch from Arsenal by penning a 3-year deal with Harry Redknapp’s men.

Diarra says he was drawn to the south coast by the promise of regular first-team football, which eluded him at the Gunners after his summer move there from Chelsea.

But Diarra, 22, has already placed his new boss on alert by revealing he sees Pompey as a stepping stone to bigger things.

“My choice could shock and surprise people, I am conscious of that,” Diarra told L’Equipe.

“It isn’t Arsenal, it isn’t Chelsea, but I know the Portsmouth manager, I know he is going to play me. The people at Portsmouth know I will not spend my life at this club.

“If I shine, if a really big club wants me, I know already that everything will go well.”

Diarra, who was also linked with Newcastle, is desperate to play regularly to push for a spot in France’s Euro 2008 squad.

Lassana Diarra

But after making just eight starts for the Gunners – and only half of those in the league – Diarra fell out with Arsene Wenger and demanded a move.

“I really want to think about myself, about those who appreciate me, who want to see me on the pitch,” he said.

large sighs all round i think, how embarrasing could this article have been if he'd joined us...

One of the kinder comments from Arsenal-Mania:

For those who are saying that he didn't realise that he would not get regular playing time, that he would have to fight for his spot or that Wenger should have played him more etc., his comments at time of signing:

"I needed to play and get more time on the pitch and I don't think it would be possible at Chelsea," he said in The Sun. "At Chelsea, we had Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, Claude Makelele and Michael Essien in midfield."
"I know it will be tough to make it at Arsenal as well. I have no guarantee from Arsène Wenger I will play all the time but I am sure that it will be okay. I know I will play big matches in the league and even in the Champions League."

Then he said this some months later:

"When I signed for Arsenal I was made promises by the people who recruited me.
"But since the start of the season the only matches I've been involved in have been low-key, and to be honest I'm getting fed up with it.
"With Mister Wenger, there's no problem whatsoever. I'm not going to criticise him or speak badly of him. I'm not the kind of person who creates problems.
"But I signed for Arsenal because I was led to believe I was going to be playing, and there would be healthy competition for the spot. That hasn't been the case."

Contradic(k)tion anyone? He's lucky that Mr. Wenger is a nice guy who always has the best interests of his players at heart.

And on his comments that French clubs couldn't afford him:

I think it's more a case of Lyon wouldn't be held to ransom by a jumped up arsehole who has an inflated ego.

and:

and to think some people trying to defend this twat.

unbelievable.

Bullet missed. Do we want Billy Big-Bollocks ****s like him at Spurs, any more than we wanted the Psycho Pikey? Gimme Prince Bong, who has a realistic sense of his value, any day.
