This is Mandate Fraud and can be relatively easily guarded against by calling the number you have on file for the organisation and checking whether the letter you have received is genuine.

However, in order to actually save yourself paying out £2m by virtue of a two-minute phone call, you actually have to put processes in place, train your staff how to follow them and, I don't know, maybe treat your staff as human beings so that they care about what they're doing and don't end up sending £2m to a bunch of crooks just because a letter said to do it.

A lot of big organisations, both in the private and public sector, don't do this. So fuck 'em.

If you would like to know more about Mandate Fraud, can I suggest you join the Fraud Advisory Panel.

https://www.fraudadvisorypanel.org/

This will make you a FAP member and you'll be invited to the FAP Conference and, no doubt, receive FAP newsletters and the like too. Their motto is "A handy way to tackle fraud". Well, it isn't. But it should be.

Guess they'll have to make cuts elsewhere then, presumably cut down on swastika's and Anne Frank blow-up dolls at the next Lazio christmas party then.

Couldn't happen to a nicer club. Fucking ****s the lot of them.
