"Fireworks are illegal in Ireland" I said the the guys in The Shelfside Spurs Podcast last night before the show ...
Illegal - but obtainable as 'displayed' in this League of Ireland match between Waterford & Shamrock Rovers.

.
The culprit is about 18 and had a 'repeater' whatever that is. Rovers are one of the Dublin clubs and take about 400 supporters to their away matches, most of which are law abiding supporters.

Dublin being the capital of the Republic has a population of about 1.5 mill - The "big" clubs have good travelling support but as I said there is always that small element of thuggery they bring to the countryside where things are more relaxed. The question was last night is how he got the firework in the ground and that the policing (Guards) was not strong enough.
I remember going to Dundalk 40+ years ago with Spurs and the police presence was massive but that was in the bad old days.
