Ledley's performance yesterday!

Although he was rusty (only a spurs fan would have been able to notice he wasn't at his best) Ledley did several things yesterday that not only reminded us how great he was but also how much better than our other defenders he is.

He wins every header (except one I believe), he NEVER gives away free kicks (he actually went for 11 games a few seasons ago without conceding a free kick), he is so quick that even over a few yards it is almost impossible for players to get around him, his timing is flawless when choosing to go to ground or stand off and finally he does all of this cleanly and with great technique.

It is only when watching him do you realise what proper defending is supposed to look like. He was fantastic yesterday, we have really missed him. When you think that you run out of fingers sometimes counting the number of errors Kaboul and Dawson make in a game,Ledley had one misplaced pass and lost one header. Not bad for player coming back after 6 months out, eh?

I know that he won't single-handedly turm us into the meanest defence in town, but if he played instead of Dawson I reckon he is worth 10 pts per season.

I hope now that he is fit and stays that way, he deserves to win things at spurs and to get the recognition he should have at international level.

Ledley King is the best central defender in the world.

and not just what he does but hopefully the confidence he instills in whoever is playing next to him ... chimbonda/kaboul/dawson will look so much better for it ...

Kaboul could become a fantastic player playing alongside King.

Yep with you on that one Nic. A real pacy, intelligent central defence.

Dawson won't be getting back in.

King was limping coming out of the locket room yesterday for his press interview pitch side... he worked his socks off and played great but unless he's 100% i wouldn't risk him against Reading if he was limping.

He said in an interview that somebody stood on his toe nail and that is why he was limping.

Wait for the conspiracy theorists?

Just watching King during the game was brilliant. Always had an eye on the ball as well as his man.

One point during the game Lee showed his man inside (again) and instead of just standing in his possition, King shaddowed Lee and his man. When the shot went away King was there to put him off instead of letting them have a clear shot on goals.

Well to be fair, it was his first game for 6 months, and even 6 months ago he wasn't 100& fit so you can understand why he'd be limping

Good to see him back. Where's the cotton wool and bubble wrap?

Look what Santa brought him!

Sadly he is now talking about playing for England again. Give it up Ledders - if you can't manage a club league/cup programme, international football is too much.

Watching him play yesterday, it made me realise that Ledley is the perfect defender and possibly the best player I've ever seen.

yea, when he picked up the ball on the edge of the area and just ran with it, I hoped he was going to grab himself a goal

If he's thinking of playing for England surely that shows at least he doesn't think the rumours are true?

Is it only me who likes his optimism?

I agree Nic

"February is the aim," he told the Daily Mail.

I was going to say at least he is looking to ease him self back in, then saw the last qutoe....

"I want to stay injury-free, get a whole season under my belt and show what I can do. It always seems as though I am playing with an injury and my play has suffered as a result.

"It is tough to come back after being out for so long. There's no problem with the knee, but we'll have to decide whether three games in six days is too much."

Realy hope he doesn't try and play in them. I would rather see King sit games out just now and have people running around saying he is out again than for him to push too hard to play in as many games as he can.

What a strange thing to say BoF. Why on earth should the country's most naturally talented central defender give up on playing for England at the age of 27?

Kaboul will 'blossom' into a pretty nice CD under the experienced eye of The KIng. Both King and Ramos can turn him into a GREAT defender OR a Classic midfielder. He is certainly no 'lubering' CD of yesteryear.
It makes so much of a difference to have Ledley 'back' in the 'fit fold' and, boy, do we need his coolness etc. Happy days! COYS!

He deserves to win things hopeful it will be at spurs, I think if he is fully fit and injury free I can't see why he couldn't play for England.

yep great to see Ledders back, he definately instills confidence in the defence and we saw him shouting his head off for the corners, typical captain stylee.

Well done to Ramos, knwing when to bring him off and change the formation around.

Long live the KING!
