That's what I got from that article too. If true, it really does raise questions about our transfer strategy. Letting Holtby, Siggy, AND Lennon go, and not bringing in a single attacking player to replace them?

Siggy scored many important goals and could change the game as an impact sub .

He wasn't a positional discipline type of player but he delivered and we seem to be missing him .

This is what you get with a dof imo.
Here's your squad. 25 to 30 players with no balance to your starting 11 because the dof hasn't a f-in clue. Your the coach now get on with it.
If he did would he not be a manager?
I hate the idea I really do. Makes no bloody sense to me at all.
I think that the skill set of a DOF and a manager are different.
It's the relationship and the balance of power which is often wrong.
The DoF is designed to provide continuity
which you need when you sack your manager every fifteen minutes.
But the manager should be the leading figur
which is hard when he is always finding his feet.
The presence of DL also complicates the situation.
Too hands on for my liking.

I cannot remember the last time I saw Lennon take on a full back and beat him. Surely this is a basic skill required for a player predominately playing wide?

I'm saying that Lennon is/was comparable to Ade - who is a good player ( very fast across the ground with a ball , strong , difficult to dispossess , football brain).

I'm a big Eriksen fan but at the same age Lennon was better . Really hope we see the best of Eriksen at Spurs .

So far Lamela has shown flashes in a couple of games . He looks talented and to have some grit but he's got a way to go to establish himself as a more or less permanent fixture on the teamsheet .

If you were to ask Ade , Berbatov , Defoe , Keane whether they preferred having Lennon alongside them or the alternatives I'm sure they'd take Lennon .

To sum up I don't believe any of the above are a step up from Lennon and that Eriksen , Lamela have a lot to prove before they can claim to be on the same level .
Sorry mate, your taking the piss surely.
Eriksen scored more last season then Lennon ever managed in a single season.
Your living on another planet if you think Lennon is a step from Eriksen and Lamela.
Both will smash Lennon's best EPL season.

Lennon is given stick by many on here but whenever he is not in the team we have seem to have a big hole when it comes to pace.

I think the issues he has are psychological, since the season where he missed most of it through injury he has not let loose in the same fashion as he used to but he still has a lot to offer. Apart from his pace his experience and defensive work are also a big miss when he's not there.

People will always slate Lennon because it is an easy thing to do, just as it was Huddlestone, Dawson and Siggy.

But the sad reality is, every time we have bought a replacement or somebody to compete with him - he has seen them off with ease.

If Lennon had played against Liverpool we would have been a lot better that is for sure.

And he certainly wouldn't have allowed a left back to run the full length of the pitch and score.
