Aaron Lennon is still suffering from an inflammation of his knee and is unlikely to feature in the clash against Newcastle at St James' Park.

Hossam Ghaly is available after a thigh complaint, skipper Ledley King was rested in midweek, while Didier Zokora returns from suspension.

Jermaine Jenas (ankle) and Robbie Keane (knee) remain sidelined.

Spurs (from): Robinson, Cerny, Chimbonda, Lee, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Stalteri, Davenport, Gardner, Zokora, Davids, Tainio, Murphy, Ghaly, Malbranque, Ziegler, Huddlestone, Berbatov, Mido, Defoe.

    Team will prob be:

    Robbo
    Chimbo Daws King Ekotto
    Ghaly Hudd Zokora Malbranque
    Berbatov Defoe

Looks strong on paper...even without keane & lennon arguably 2 of our most influential players. Hope jol plays attacking 442 formation we need width & pace upfront their defence can be got at, even without the mighty titus bramble...

Usually we've had team news by this time from official site for a Sat 3pm ko - Late decisions or just Xmas shutdown?

The official site has just issued the Team News for our trip to St James park. Looks like Lennon is out, and (surprise, surprise) Tanio is injured again! We are going to struggle against the Magpies without any width. The only good news is the Zokora is back from suspension. At least we'll have some pace up the middle him back. Let's hope the Hudd plays a blinder, 'cause the creativity is going to have to come from him.
There's always the chance we could go 'long ball' (which we all dislike!) and see Mido in there for Defoe, but that's not how I'd start the match.
    Here we go:
    Robbo
    Chimbonda Dawson King Lee
    Ghaly THudd Zokora Malbranque
    Defoe Berbs
    Subs- Cerny, Asso-Ekotto, Davenport, Mido
"Wrap it up nice with a bow on it would you, Martin!!!!"
    COYS
    SEASONS GRITTYS

Yep that's the team I'd go with. Shame Lennon is out but if Ghaly does the business and we get some points it will probably do Lennon good to have a rest.

Looking at the table the next 4 games are going to vital in our push for top 6 finish. A result against The Toon and Villa will ensure our gap from midtable. But results against 'Pool and Pompey could see us break into the top 4.

Interesting to hear what Robbo said

"The midweek games and weekend games are coming so thick and fast we are getting used to them, so we are doing less training and more playing games."

Hopefully this busy schedule can help us gain rhythm and build momentum. Be sure to see few players rested for the Villa home game, hopefully this will work better to when we rested players against WBA last season.

Don't forget after the congested fixtures Jenas and Keane should be back for the Carling Cup semis and Feyenoord games.

On another note Bolton fixture has been moved to Sunday 26th February 2007...Oh by the way...that's the date set for the Carling Cup Final...

Why "surprise surprise"? He had to come of after a clash with the Southend keeper on wednesday. Guess he hasn't recovered yet.
  7. GDG
    Ghaly THudd Zokora Malbranque

That is a bloody solid midfiled, they won't be taking too many prisoners, will they? Watch the yellow cards fly, and Huddlestone to score from outside the box.

Spurs are equal with ManU as the team with the most players in the squad to have scored, at 12. Teams now cannot assume that it is only our front two who are going to score and as a result it is becoming more difficult to defend against us, I have very good expectations for the second half of the season. Top four? Yes please.

agree with Gritty's team - plus would add O'Hara to subs - It's going to be so difficult up there - a draw would be a very good result - but we're capable of getting that

That's very interesting. I knew we had turned around the problem we had 2 seasons ago, when we were getting no goals at all from midfield, but I didn't realise it had been such a successful adjustment. It's clearly the product of tactical adjustments and work in training.

I think this is the list:

    Strikers
    Defoe
    Berbatov
    Keane
    Mido

    Midfielders
    Lennon
    Malbranque
    Huddlestone
    Jenas
    Murphy
    Ghaly

    Defenders
    Davenport
    Dawson
