I would suggest that his appetite for investing more money into Chelsea or the UK is probably at zero. There's a lot of pressure from the US to impound any suspected corrupt Russian money.........and this may have made him extrenely nervous.

How come as an Israeli he can come over here for six months at a time? Is that the norm or just for Israel.

Asking someone to spend a billion in to chelsea, is always going to going to be hard

The idiots on Skyscrapercity, laughed at me when I suggested Chelsea would struggle to fund their stadium 4 years ago. Asking anyone to spend £1b on a club stadium is insane

You have the biggest clubs in the world in terms of revenue like Barcelona who are scaling back their stadium projects

Do the British government really care about providing jobs for people? Without going deep into it, Theresa May and her cronies have proven that they don't care very much for the working class.

Just like their squad, 80% of the builders would be foreigners anyway.

Yes I am serious. I realise it's marmite, some will hate it, some will love it. I think it's very iconic. Not another shiny bland bowl.
Agree to diagree. To me it looks like a Taplow. Like communist mass construction from the 70's. But it was approved by a commie apparatchik so no wonder.

Yeh I agree outside its an amazing design that is timeless, unlike the glass fad that doesn't inspire or particularly bring an emotional response. I mean our stadium design is perfectly inoffensive, but ultimately a bit bland. But the design is no less than what you'd expect from Herzog & de Meuron very good architects who did the Allianz arena and the Birdcage, both risky but ultimately greatly admired deigns.

However, Herzog & de Meuron have a lot less experience than populous and ultimately with ours being such a complex project experience is vital. Also were are stadium truly benefits from the care of the interior deign aspect and the bowl itself. In the Chelsea project the inside seemed almost an afterthought.

LIke the other so called oligarchs, Abramovich stole his filthy lucre from the Russian people.

The City and bought-and-paid-for politicians - from New Labour's Mandy, Blair & Brown to the Bullingdon Tories Cameron, Osborne & Boris - were only too happy to accommodate the dirty billions, and turn a blind eye to the mafia culture that accompanied oligarch dosh, as long as it was Russians killing Russians, ideally in expensive properties with CCTV that mysteriously stopped functioning.

But now the worm has turned. Abramovich has recognised that mounting political pressure on the British government means they have to be seen to be making life a little tougher for the oligarchs. So he's made a long-planned move to his Chabad mates in Israel. An entirely logical and calculated move from his perspective, I would add.

The silver lining will be if chavski's best players leave and the club goes into full RAWK meltdown mode....

Just reading through their forum - fuck me, they're a bit deluded when it comes to their success... comments like we have built this, deserve this, blah blah... slagging off Roman... talk about short term memories - it was his billions in the first place. Pack of ****s.

Just like a lottery winner complaining they've worked hard for where they are if they lose it all.

TBH the most impressive thing is the interior, its really is amazing, close to the pitch than any new stadium and steeper than any new stadium
