Aren't they restricting loans as well? Would be amusing if Chelsea have 40 players out on loan running their contracts down and unable to play - could be mayhem!

Man City(20) Arsenal(5) Manunt(6) Spurs(2) total 33
Chelsea (40) says it all about this club they are basically farming players for resale and they can get away with it and so can Mancity because they pay these youngsters the sort of money championship players would cry out for .
I say ban the loan system altogether not a popular view I know but there it is.

I think banning loans for over 21's would do it

Not sure about that, there could be a valid reason for a player over 21 to be loaned out, maybe a combination of length of time at a club and how many loans the player has already been on?

Nah. Make them part of your 25 man squad or sell. Better for the players progression.

I'm struggling to think of them. The only valid reasons I can think of for a loan (need playing time, fall out with boss, dodgy loan to buy for FFP dodging), can all be equally solved using a permanent deal.

It would stop teams hoarding players if they simply have to sell before buying (like us this summer).

Yes, not all players are first team ready at 21, move them on, its probably for the best, maybe with a buy back option if really necessary.

Interesting what’s gonna happen to them in next 10 years. It’s absolutely crucial for them Abramovich sticks around to build a new stadium if he doesn’t I think they might be stuffed. Would a new owner want to build a new stadium and take all that on. If Abramovich walks and they are left with a 41k stadium and no loan income they could really suffer. Say what you like about Levy but in theory he has at least secured our future as a top 6 club for years to come.

And in an attempt to ruin yet another promising player’s development as he’ll never play, they’ve apparently put in a bid for Pulisic. ****s.

Yeah I think that's probably the best way to view what levy is looking for top 6 stability, the club won't win anything or unlikely is a better phrase but it still keeps us on the coat tails of the others at least to a degree.

What an exciting prospect!

Better than midtable mediocrity though I guess!
