Did I just read Virgil Van Dijk described as the ‘Dutch Wall’?

Lascelles is just as good imo, certainly this season.

From The Guardian ..

"Though Liverpool undoubtedly have had a good season, beating Manchester City on three occasions and reaching the Champions League final, even a win in their final game would take them to only 75 points, one fewer than they collected last season"

This is why I would love a win for us today.

So, should they win today as expected but lose to RM in the final.. would it be a good season? reach the final but lose means winning nothing, and finishing on less points than last season. If Spurs are being judged on the lack of trophies, then doesn't the same apply?

Fingers crossed that's what happens but guarantee that won't be the tone in the press.

Nope. It doesn't matter. Liverpool can do no wrong, anyway they already won the most important title of "next season champions"

Win or lose..... Their supporters will always have next season.

The point being the hubris, the sabre rattling and those God-awful fans with the media bow down.

We really didn't have a great season, yet we finished 3rd above a pool team that according to some have been the best team in the land and been doing things no one has ever seen in Europe....

Watching some of our fans celebrating us finishing above them is fucking embarrassing.

They're playing in the Champions League final in a couple of weeks. I'd take 16th place in the league for a place in the final.

Finishing above a team that isn't a local rival (e.g. Arsenal) should never ever warrant celebrating.

You're nuts, I could understand 16th and winning the CL but just for an appearance? I'd take 3rd place every day of the week

8 out of the past 9 seasons we have finished above Liverpool!:yuck:
If they manage to win the CL this will mean nothing. I love finishing above them but in those 8 season we haven’t won anything. Nether have they, but this is there second European final which is more then I can say about us. Let’s just hope Madrid smash them.

Finals mean nothing unless you win them

True, but hopefully they’ll get beaten by the first top level European team they’ve actually faced this year.
