Boo hoo......Liverpool might sign Alisson. Waahh...Liverpool will be great now they're supposedly signing Alisson.

We've only got a World cup winning captain for our goalkeeper at Spurs. :spitoutdummy:

Liverpool signing a top goalkeeper is the equivalent of us signing a top creative CM.

They’re going for it for sure but don’t forget they only just scraped 4th and were propped up all season by Salah scoring every single game. You’d expect a pure striker like harry to reproduce a 30+ goal season but If salah doesn’t then they could struggle. Defensively no doubt they look better but onions as always. With the money spent anything less than top 3 and a credible challenge will be a failure.

Agreed a fee for Alisson now! It’s so depressing how they’re spending so much money, making great signings.

Whilst we’re doing fuck all.
Don't forget they sold Coutinho for an enormous fee, so they've had that in the bank to invest towards new players. But clearly they are not messing about and are pretty much paying the full asking price for any player they are keen on

You said they were sensible offers. They overpay, I don't see that as being sensible.

But it gets them the player they want? Would you rather our strategy of going for cheaper alternatives because we won't pay up for our number 1 targets?

They pretty much blew every penny of the Coutinho fee on Keita and Van Dijk. Liverpool fans will tell you that Allison is being paid for out of the Coutinho money though, just like Fabinho was and just like Shaqiri was.

I never said any different. You were the one saying it was sensible. You seem to want to argue a point I haven't made.

Sensible offer as in it's a fair offer for the calibre of player they are targeting in this current market

Yeah but quality doesn’t matter, it is how much you spend and how quickly you get the deal done.

If we did everything with short term thinking we’d be worse off but might have won a trophy.

Second best squad in the league now

We can say they are overpaying but what is the true worth of a player?! Ultimately it’s someone that can kick a ball. You can try and work out short sales, extra prize money etc but ultimately if a club can afford it it’s what someone is willing to pay - personally unless I thought Spurs were going to go bankrupt or it meant massive ticket price inflation I could care less if we “overpaid” for quality players that lead to us winning trophies regularly

Fair play to the Liverpool board for backing their manager with some genuine quality signings - all of whom if the market and global interest stays as it is will have good resale values

But mate not everyone thinks like levy and looks for value in the market place not that I'm saying he or you are wrong, but Liverpool obviously feel they want and are getting a top class keeper so will pay what it takes to secure him.
We will do business I have no doubt but am I looking or feeling excited about what may come in no because I know we are in a different market place to the other 5 around us and know that our signings will be affordable and safe.

It's fair in the current market because fees have been massively inflated precisely by these "sensible" deals such as paying £67m for a goalkeeper.

That's the going rate now for a top goalkeeper like Allison. Do you think clubs around the world are going to come together and agree to stop asking for such high prices/stop offering so much for players? Of course not - it is what it is.

Clubs can either pretend it's 2015 and offer 2015 prices for players or accept it's 2018 and pay the prices quoted in the current market for the best players.

Put it this way Courtois in the press is circa £30 million.

Alisson isn't a patch on Courtois, and I certainly don't believe £60+ million is a true reflection of his value in current climate. But Scouse are prepared to pay it so fair play to Roma. Same as Southampton regarding VvD

Alisson...the keeper that conceded 7 over 2 legs against the Scouse.

...and the beauty of Lovren in front of him isn't going to stop the goals against table rising once more.

Big shout out to Dejan...you the man.

As for Keita...A back to form Vic, a healthy Winks, adding Eriksen and hopefully Grealish.

Whomever you face...they'll own your arse beitch.

Idiotic spending strategy at best.
