Losing Ox and Can for £0 and having to spend £120m to replace them with Keita and fabinho both PL unproven certainly throws a different light on their business.

Allison
Arnold--Van Dijk--Matip--Robertson
Fabinho
Keita--Fekir
Mane--Firmino--Salah
That team is as good as City's imo with players that fit in with Klopp's style of play really well. City's depth is still a bit better, but first 11 is comparable quality. I don't see any other team in the premier league making much of an attempt to challenge City for the league next season with new signings. We could be up there as well with 1 or 2 truly top class signings but it looks like we're more looking for younger players with potential to develop in the positions we need.

Liverpool have a better squad than us. They will have a better team if Toby and Dembele leave as expected.

We're falling behind. No idea what Levy's game is.

Do they really ? If you’re making up a defensive unit I’d take TAA Vvd Robertson the other 6 with keeper would be ours. I’d still take Dier/wanyama over henderson/fabinho(unproven). CM they are probably stronger but we know that’s where we need to strengthen. Then they have Salah/mane we have more depth with x5 good AM and Kane over firmino. Right now I’d still take our squad over theirs.

Have they bought fekir yet ? if I stick a top draw CM in our team that we haven’t bought yet it will still be better than that line up.

Hendo is going to start - so that automatically lowers expectations...and Loveren is the best CB in the world....

They don't fuck about - they make a sensible offers for players and get the deals done.

Not really sure why so many people have found this funny

They've negotiated quickly and got deals over the line for their top targets and will be significantly stronger for it...

"sensible offers"

What would you have considered a sensible offer for Allison? He's probably one of the most in-demand keepers around at the moment.

It's the market we're competing in. You can either pay what the best players are going for or settle for cheaper alternatives who most likely aren't as good.

I'm drawing comparison with us being impressed by another Brazilian GK by the name of Gomes when we saw him play against us v PSV.

.. and I have just revisited the 7 goals Liverpool rattled past Alisson 3 months ago in the CL semis (Karius was equally incompetent tbf)

We aren’t competing in this particular part of the market though.

Look at our links. Our shortest priced links are Grealish and Maguire I believe.
Not quite the level of Keita, Fekir and Allison I’m sure you’ll agree!

Penny pinching is obviously necessary at the moment but it’ll blow up in our face eventually. Poch will carry the can too no doubt.

I would argue it's more sensible to get your main targets rather than settling for cheaper players who aren't as good and end up getting rid of within a couple of seasons.

In an ideal world yes I would agree, but it doesn't always pan out like that. There's no point spending all your time trying to get a target and leave it to late to get a backup.

Realistc offers.

They know who they want, go out there and get them.
We also know who we want, baulk at the price, go for our 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice, find they don't cut the mustard, have to move heaven and earth to shift them again and then go for another 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice in the vague hope that this time the stars will align and we have by sheer chance unearthed a hidden gem...
