Keita must be some player. He’s single handedly turned a side we completely outplayed last season in to one we don’t stand a chance against.

They were Brave... Except they started last season and in the January window and continued through the window just passed.

This what "overpaying" brings i suppose :(. The thought of the Dippers become dominant again is infuriating.... I've enjoyed their mediocrity over the last 8 yrs (barring the Brendan Ridgers period of course).

If they finish above us it will be due to two things:
a) our inability to put games to bed against weaker sides
b) because teams like West Ham see us as a bigger game than Liverpool so raise their game

Liverpool will score 4/5 goals a number of times this season while we won't. Their goal difference at the end of the season could be what decides things

Did any of you actually watch the game or just see the result & highlights on MOTD?

West Ham played into their hands with a crazy high defensive line and trying to play the offside trap without really understanding the offside rule.

4-0 is always a good result but West Ham were really poor so can’t read much into it

Yes its early days for sure. They've also been rather dominant at Anfield, so lets see how they fair away from home. Must add im not looking forward to our 1st game in our new stadium against this lot.

They’re miles ahead of us right now. In terms of acquisitions over the last 18 months and preparation for the season, it’s not even close

I'm confused as to what you mean in that post - in the last 18 months they've bought the likes of Salah, Keita, Van Dijk etc., some of who admittedly cost a lot of money, but some who didn't.

And they're looking great coming into the new year.

Admittedly, we had this to an extent last year, but at the moment they seem the most likely club to challenge City this year. Not sure why that's a controversial statement

My youngest Son is living in Liverpool and I seriously worry that he may become infected by Dipperitis (like the bloke in the above picture)

You can’t judge anything on that game. West Ham game plan was appalling. They’ve basically bought 2 players that improve their 1st xi. Considering we thrashed them 4–1 at Wembley and totally out played them 2nd half at anfield and finished above them. As said Keita is gonna have to be some player if he can single handily make them miles better. United thrashed West Ham 4-0 start of last season and everyone was convinced they’d challenge city. Liverpool are improved and it will be tough to come above them. But they will be at least 10 points off city. They are still in a situation where one injury to Vvd or Salah would totally f*ck them. Even firminio would totally unbalance them.

Georginio Wijnaldum reported as saying the increased competition within the squad will enable them to compete with defending champions Man City, I must admit when I heard it I thought it a bit up himself, one step at a time I thought, first of all try competing with us for once.

Luckily they have not been miles ahead of us on the pitch, you know where football is played.

Infact I seem to remember a Spurs team who were basically playing away all season finishing above them last season.

We even played Sissoko in some of those matches.

Seriously, preparation and player acquisitions? Does this give them a 3 goal lead when we play them? I must be missing something.
