TBH, is Salah really that great now? One season wonder, no? Suddenly some reports are mentioning him along the likes of Ronaldo ffs.. Without pace his attributes are not that fantastic.

Yet Kane has been golden boot for consecutive seasons and people keep putting him down saying with much to learn, and never reaching the heights of Ronaldo. Disgusting.

It looks like Mo might have a little temper on him if things aren't going his way - perhaps teams might think about targeting him differently with some dark arts.

It's not luck of the draw or anything like that. They just have kept winning when they needed to

Surely you can see that luck of the draw played at least some part...? You don't think there's anything lucky about the fact that they've had to play Sevilla, Spartak, Maribor, Porto, City and Roma meanwhile we would've had to play APOEL, Dortmund, Real Madrid, Juve, Real Madrid (again) and then Bayern to get to the same stage? All of the teams we'd have played, except for APOEL, have either won or reached the final of the CL in the last 5 years. Liverpool's fixtures read like a Europe League run.

I'm not saying Liverpool haven't done well, of course you still have to win the games, but you have to appreciate they've been lucky not to have faced any of the teams with real CL winning pedigree.

And that's not even including the luck they've had in terms of very dodgy decisions going their way...

Exactly, and when you consider Real have just knocked out PSG, Juventus and now Bayern to get to the final it really hits home what a jammy draw they've had, and thats not including their easy group.

They've had one tough team so far, and it was a team they'd already played twice in the league so knew exactly what they were going up against.

Not to mention the fact that for all City's quality on paper, they've not got the experience/pedigree in European competition that teams like Juve, Real Madrid, or Bayern have.

Just done a little check on Salah's career stats.

Brief stats as follows:

2009-12: 11 goals in 38 Egyptian Premier League games.
2012-14:- 9 goals in 47 Swiss Super League games.
2014-15: 2 goals in 13 PL games for Chelscum.
2015-17: 29 goals in 65 Serie A games (including loan spells from Chelscum to Fiorentina and Roma before Roma signed him permanently in August 2016).

Apart from this season (superb) and last (15 goals in 31 Serie A games, which is tidy enough), there's nothing eye-catching, as you can see. Of course, there's more to it than stats, so I'm not saying that's the whole story. One-season wonder? We'll have to wait and see. Maybe his stock will never be so high again, so I'd be tempted to cash in while I can if I were in charge of LFC (if that happened, that would be another example of the Reds getting jammy big-time), and PL teams will know all about him next season, so he'll have his work cut out repeating anything like his success of this season.
Edit - he has also scored 33 in 57 games for Egypt, but only 4 goals have been against non-African teams (Bosnia, Portugal and 2 against Chile). Of the 29 against African nations, only 3 have been against nations that have ever been to a World Cup finals tournament.

They did thrash Man City but they benefitted hugely refereeing decisions and their fans attacking the City bus to rattle them for that first 45 minutes. I still think that had either of City's disallowed goals across the two legs been given then Liverpool would have gone out.

The "Roma beat Barca" case is a fairly weak one. It's the "Scotland are World Champions" argument from 1967. Roma may have beaten Barcelona but they are not Barcelona, they are the 3rd/4th best team in Italy who shocked everyone to have gotten as far as they did and it was a significantly more favourable game for Liverpool than if Barca had gone through. Do we need to fear teams in League One who beat Wigan this season just because they knocked Man City out of the FA Cup? And even then, Liverpool almost let a 5-0 lead slip and could easily have done with better refereeing calls.

If Liverpool beat Madrid then they deserve to lift the trophy. Of course they do. You beat what is put in front of you. Just find the whole thing cringeworthy. Is this Liverpool side any better than the Benitez one with Torres, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano etc? How about the Rodgers side of Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho etc? I'd argue no in both cases.

Rare that I want a Chelsea win but I really hope they beat them this weekend.
I'm really torn about this.

On the one hand, I hate Chelsea and everything they stand for.

On the other, Chelsea attend really a rival, they have so much money that they will attract the best coaches and players even if they miss out on the CL.
Liverpool, on the other hand are a straight rival who could result lose or not be able to attract top players with CL football.

Will Chelsea automatically attract the biggest and best names going forward though? The Russian has said he wants the club to live within its means from now on, and the stadium project will take a lot of his time going forward.

If Liverpool fans weren't so cultist and obnoxious I'd want them to finish top four over Chelsea, hands down.
