The above is apparently true but can’t find it myself because I’m too lazy. Just more Liverpool feeling sorry for themselves because they can’t have possibly deserved to lose, can they?

Why would they do the tests in the US, when Karius is a German that plays in England and the incident was in Ukraine?

Also, it was Van Dijk’s fault anyway for pushing Ramos.

Karius is on holiday in the states.

To me this just seems like the owners of Liverpool using a hospital they’re connected with to put out an, at best, speculative diagnosis in order to retain as much value as possible for the player.

The guy was elbowed in the head. I don't see why it's so unbelievable that he had concussion.

No, it's not just you. I was surprised to see that the hospital published a report on its examination of Karius.(https://www.massgeneral.org/News/newsarticle.aspx?id=6792)

Given the Americans' fixation with Doctor-Patient confidentiality, the release of this detailed report by the hospital could only happen if it was sanctioned and financed by the patient or his representatives. I think there's a bit of a clue in the final paragraph...

We have received numerous calls today regarding the health status of Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. With Mr. Karius’s permission, we are providing information about his medical situation in an effort to prevent, where possible, the dissemination of incomplete or erroneous information.

On May 31, 2018 Mr. Karius underwent a comprehensive examination by Dr. Ross Zafonte and Dr. Lenore Herget in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history – including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms – physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr. Karius sustained a concussion during the match May 26, 2018.

At the time of our evaluation, Mr. Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event. Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.

We also note that Mr. Karius has reported significant and steady improvement since the concussive event, and we expect him to make a full recovery based on the results of the examination. We expect that with treatment and by following prescribed activity protocols he will continue to improve. We have encouraged vigilance and an emphasis on safety in his eventual return to full activity.

This is the only comment we will be making in relation to this matter. All future media inquiries should be directed to the Liverpool FC Press Office.

It would indicate to me that the whole exercise has been staged and paid for by LFC, using a hospital with close links to John W Henry to issue a report whose contents have been largely dictated by the LFC Press Office.

He doesn't look very affected by it, though. Either way, I can't even begin to understand how the dippers are blaming Ramos for it. It's a blatant penalty.
Lol

But honestly. Ramos is an utter ****. He get's away with this shit all the time and it was about time he got pulled up for it.

In the attached video, Karius gets up immediately and talks directly to the referee, presumably to complain about the blow to his head. If he's indeed suffered a significant impact to his face, the professional reaction from Karius would have been to stay on the floor and milk it for all its worth. Instead, he got straight up and, having had a quick moan to the referee, he got on with the game. Waiting a week before reporting any symptoms also meant that he wouldn't have been able to show the doctors any residual swelling/bruising to substantiate the seriousness of the blow he allegedly received.

In truth, however, I think his club has acted very professionally and humanely in getting Karius well away from Liverpool and out of the media spotlight. Although it goes against the grain to praise LFC, I think they've belatedly attempted to repair some of the damage caused by his team-mates' lack of support on the night it happened.

Adding insult to injury, I'm pretty sure that Merseyside Police have yet to make any arrests in relation to the violence outside the ground. You'd perhaps forgive UEFA for taking a more lenient stance if they could see that the club and the local police are vigorously pursuing the thugs behind the attacks on the City bus, but this is Liverpool so that's never going to happen.

I'm not sure the other guy is a real Dr either

Sounds like a doctor to me

Dr. Ross D. Zafonte is Earle P. and Ida S. Charlton Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital as well as Vice President Medical Affairs Research and Education at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He has published extensively on traumatic brain injuries, concussion, and other neurological disorders, as well as presented on these topics at conferences nationally and internationally. Dr Zafonte’s research has been funded the National Institute of Health and the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research as well as the Department of Defense.

He's off balance following shove from VVD, and it's not even high speed impact. What's more, not a raised arm either, just pure accidental contact. To suggest intent is idiocy.

So either:

Their medical team ignored (or didn't recognise) a potential issue during the match and let the player carry on, but then decided to send him for tests while on holiday a week and a half later.

Or

They are now trying to find an excuse for his errors, despite making other good saves during the game, at a hospital where the owner of the club is involved and could offer a vague result which could be spun favourably for Liverpool.

Great that he's had tests. Not great that if it is indeed true, that he was allowed to continue. In other sports, such as rugby and the NFL, there are on-field tests for head injuries and if there is any doubt of his condition, the player has to be subbed and isn't allowed to return.

Or both.

Oh and Idid anyone else notice that Salah's injury was on his left arm, not the arm that was entwined with Ramos?
