Last night's match was mental - such an emotional roller coaster. I can't remember the last time I shouted at the TV watching football quite as much as I did last night. Not a great game of football but full of incident.

The boys came through in the end. A massive confidence boost and team spirit must be over flowing now.

So pleased for the team and also brimming with pride for the Spurs boys...I'm hoping they bring that winning mentality, grit and determination into the champions league and cup matches next season.

So excited for Saturday...so don't want to go to the wedding me and the Mrs are going to :(

Wrong thread ?

Nah! Not me. I have been indifferent to England results and the only reason why I want them to do well on this occasion is because of our Spurs boys. And before you ask, I am British born (Birmingham) and a tax payer

This is the first tournament for about fifteen years where England have regained my support, and i think a lot, perhaps a majority of England fans feel somewhat similarly. I don’t think the England teams, players and setup deserved support while they were appointing fat Sam, playing atrocious backwards football, and resolutely playing whoever were the big names in our ridiculous press (broadsheet and tabloid) while being non-entities in every other footballing nation.

There’s a refreshing humility to Southgate, and what at first seemed a lack of strength has been his biggest asset, as he’s learnt on the job, built on his experience in our youth teams, and though I don’t think we are a very good, or even a good team, I can at least support us now. There was no connection before, between the spoilt, moronic and pretty embarrassing group of players and decision makers above them and the fanbase. I don’t believe in supporting something you detest and that is incredibly ugly just because it’s your team. For me, supporting that team, is wanting it to change for the better. I felt the same about AVB spurs in the end.

I really like Southgate, and the general decency and inclination to look at himself, and think before acting, is much more worthy of support than all the tubthumping patriotism, 50 yard shots and diagonals, and inability to string together a handful of passes that came before. If we could have exhumed Churchill we’d have stuck him up front and wondered why we weren’t scoring. Admittedly, we still can;’t string together a handful of passes, but at least we bugger it up in a more likeable way, and with some sense of direction for the future.

Chester should just sign 11 randomers off the street who have never kicked a ball before in their lives on 1-week contracts and put them up against Liverpool on Saturday as a big fuck you to Liverpool for not agreeing to switch the kick-off time of their friendly.

Some context please.

Liverpool arranged a friendly with Chester for 3pm on Saturday with the agreement that all proceeds go to Chester. They have contacted Liverpool to request moving the date so more than 12 people show up, and Liverpool being their usual scumbag selves have rejected it.

They've sold all the tickets as far as I'm aware so Chester still get the money.

Thanks. But I bet that Pool have a schedule already in place for pre season and this would cause problems for them.

Niveapool v Napoli on 4th August at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

For 40% or so of Irish football supporters.

So? I'd be disappointed if Spurs acted like this.

So, they have an agreed date and they can’t reschedule because if clashes. Would you want Poch to blow the pre season planning for the sake of allowing fans to watch another game on tv?

Chester knew the WC schedule so they have themselves to blame.

I'm not British and I laughed when he missed. I even expected him to.

as a netural. I enjoyed his missed too. If it ended 4-5 due to that blunder I would be satisfied. Kinda like stevie g and his slip that cost Liverpool the title.

But as a Tottenham fan. I am glad England are through. I am glad Trips stepped up and scored a big big pen. He could have stop the goal. I am not too sure but he could have blocked the keeper from getting finger tips to the ball.

And even if Henderson is in an England shirt...I still love laughing at Liverpool.[/QUOTE]

What if the Colombian hadn't missed, would you still have been happy Henderson missed, and we'd have gone out of the competition? It really doesn't make any sense.
It does not make any sense as you probably assume that every Spurs fan should also be an England fan or supporter. News flash, not everyone does. As I said above, I watch and follow England and want them to do well just because of our lads. I also follow Belgium want them to do well because of Verts, Dembele a co.

Sad. Just sad.

You take more pleasure from other peoples misery than your own happiness? That is just wrong.

Im not English.....I follow the team even want them to win the tournament if possible. However im first and foremost a Spurs supporter..... Why do so many in here assume only English fans support Spurs. Thats been the assumption from quiet a few in here.

And on the flip side some of these same people assume that all Spurs supporters support England!

Your first sentence is a wrong assumption, based on nothing I've actually written. Your second is redundant.

It's a world cup. People can support whomever they want. What I don't get is someone who says they're rooting for England, but then is also rooting for one of their players to fail at the potential expense of the team. It just means you're not actually rooting for the team. That's what made no sense with regard to the poster I was responding to.

I read your earlier post about your own personal views re support for England, and I fully respect it. I have plenty of family and friends that feel the same way as you. There's no confusion with your personal view re where you're coming from as opposed to someone saying, "I'm rooting for England, but I want Henderson to miss his penalty!" That still makes no sense to me.

Very true, although you did say you were cheering for england. So it came across as you wanted england to win but would be more happy for a liverpool player to fuck up.

I never said you were english.

Find the closest rugby team, and sign them for a day...
