You said this:

Either this means you expect the club to sign the best players, in which case you most certainly did say that, or it means that you expect the club to be paying the wages of these best players, in which case I've answered your point already. Or did you miss the fact that we're now paying Harry Kane about a million pounds a month?
Exactly, I said that we have a right to expectation that we will be competing for the best players. Not getting to deadline day, and unveiling a couple more 2nd choices from Ligue 1.

I never said we, as fans, have a right to get big signings. The fact is that by charging us so highly, the club has raised expectations among fans. It's a similar scenario to what has transpired since Arsenal moved to the Emirates. You can't keep charging Michelin star prices and serve up Nandos. The fans will turn eventually.

Ffs, we were served up Wimpy for decades, what we are seeing now is the consistently best football in my lifetime, I think we are a long way from”the fans turning”.

Its laughable the sense of entitlement that's breeding within our fanbase these days.

So yes, you did. You definitely did. You're still saying it.

Whatever, it's been explained to you. Feel free to take a sign saying "I have a right to better" to the first game at the new stadium if you're still not happy.

But surely with Liverpool constantly finishing below us and winning fuck all shows that it doesnt guarantee anything despite showing ambition each transfer window? Liverpool have far higher revenue numbers than we do, therefore can spend more. It's about being smart with your money, not just the highest amount spent wins.
We have been fairly consistent over a number of years now whether that be in relation to the team or our transfer business which in fairness is not as exciting as the signings they are making but that is the way we do things.
In regards to us finishing above Liverpool for most of the last decade is a great achievement considering their global appeal compared to ours which we should be proud of, although we are yet to make a single signing with a couple of weeks to go this might just be Liverpool's season seeing as they have reached 3 finals in 3 years they are not far off.

So Liverpool acting decisively and aggressively in the transfer market - now look like they’re getting a top rated keeper

Fair play to them, so far they’ve had a sensational window and are looking very strong going into the new season

I get the whole ‘be patient’ but while they’re out there sorting midfield and defence, we’re still struggling with Grealish.

Wrap it up however you want, we’re behind

Imagine what we could achieve if we showed even half the ambition in the transfer market as Liverpool.
Yes, I realise we usually finish above them most seasons, but the point remains.
We could winning things!!! There’re being ambitious are we?
This was the window when we were surely going to show some ambition at last. Lol.
And before ‘Wait until the window has closed before we judge’ comes out . We’re told to wait every window year after year after year... and we’re always left short.
This is looking the same way.
I’ll be astonished if we sign one player who’ll be a regular starter for us next season.
We’ve still got a good team and a top manager, but how long can we keep punching above our weight.
I think we should keep our feet on the ground in regards to our transfer activity of lack of until the season starts too many people have got excited about this alleged huge net spend.
We don't do business that way throwing huge money around like Liverpool appear to be doing with the potential signing of a new keeper plus the others they have brought in it's not the club policy.

We are where we are every season waiting and waiting to do later business nothing has changed nor should anyone had expected it to, but back to Liverpool yes they look good but they can only play one way and struggle to change from all out attack plus they have a mass of attacking talent that might leave them unbalanced.

Our window got off on completely the wrong foot when we retained Vorm and Gazzaniga, taking up 2 non-HG spots for reserve GKs is utter insanity.

This. I would go further and say that when the club asked us to pay prices to give THFC the highest gate receipts in Europe there was a reasonable expectation that the club would do its part and deliver a team on the pitch to match the stadium and the prices. If as others have said it is just “business as normal” for DL then I for one will feel ripped off and really question his ambition. Lots of ex-post rationalisation by people but Poch was pretty clear in his end of season comments that he expected this window to be different too.

Unfortunately we are going to have to re adjust our overall expectations in this ever increasingly difficult period of sillyness in english football.
Of course we have an incredible stadium soon to be ready and an ever increasing brand but we are competing with more and more teams that are throwing money around to bring in the best talent from around the world.
City, pool are ahead for sure imo in terms of playing staff and quality. We are currently depending on the likes of chelsea, united and arse to also not put their foot on the gas pedal otherwise we COULD stuggle to keep up. Pound for pound poch probably has the toughest job from in the top 6 imo.
I hope we dont short change him, but i fear we will and it will eventually cause him to leave for bigger things because we are making him fight a blaze with a 2 bob water pistol.

Arsenal won't catch us, not even with their new signings. They still have the same lazy attackers who do not defend for the team.

At this moment in time I still feel we have the 3rd best squad in the league but if we want to challenge city we need to bring in some quality this window.

Can't have city running away with a another easy season. It's not acceptable.

Isn't there a Liverpool rimming thread for all this stuff?

It is possible to support Spurs, hate Liverpool and still admit they have had a blinding window.

I couldn't think of many better Dembele replacements than Naby Keita. He looks a special talent.

Fabinho is a top DM, Utd chased him all last summer (and Monaco resisted) for a reason.

Their biggest weakness is GK and they've gone out and bought one of the most saught after on the market, for a world record no less.

Fekir is a massive talent and has been suggested by many on here as a player we should consider.

You can pretend all you want that they will all fail, one or two might, but they have finally plugged some gaping holes in their side with players a lot of elite clubs were looking at. That is a concern.

Yes we keep finishing ahead of them, but if they keep spending this kind of money and we try to be too clever they will finish above us, and get trophies ahead of us. That's modern football.

I still have faith in our squad, and I'm still being optimistic we can pull off 3-4 good signings after Grealish, but Liverpool will be a major threat next season regardless.

Edit: apologies if I read this wrong and there generally is one of those threads!

Yeah you got it wrong mate, there is a Liverpool love in thread, this one's for taking the piss out of them, hence the title of it.
