Any Spurs fan who says that they prefer Levy’s approach this window to that of Liverpool’s board is either mad or a liar. That isn’t to comment on the quality of their signings but just their approach. They’ve identified targets their manager wants and gone and got them, not taken pride in haggling every last penny or moving on to vastly inferior players at the last minute.

Come at me BSoDL.

Am I the only one who doesn't think based on his World Cup performances he is so special ? Clearly a good keeper but 67 million is a terrible lot of money. I would expect him to be clearly the best in the world for that money and I don't think he is. There are at least three keepers in the PL that are better.

I wasn't impressed but then i don't watch Serie A and he is keeping Ederson out of the line up so I'll give him the benefit of doubt.

Not really - they spent 75M on VVD, and 60 on Keita...this is all new money for Fabinho, Shaqiri, Alisson

Right now, their total net spend for last summer/winter and this summer is about €188M

Now, they still have some players to clear out - but they are investing far and above the Coutinho money already.

Another gem from the BBC's brand new Liverpool Live service this summer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44869463

Tbf a Liverpool player being injured is major headline news and deserves top billing on their front page ...

You bunch of absolute ****’s. Not all of you, but you know who you are.

I’ve just logged on, came to my favourite thread and realised that I’ve got 8 pages of laughing at Liverpool to do.

So I get some popcorn, pour myself a large Jack, as it’s my birthday, and all I can hear is 90% of you ****’s bending Liverpool over and rimming the fuck out of them.

This should be like the ITK thread where banning comes into effect.

You’ve ruined it for me...****’s

Good work people, just spent a good 15mins catching up on this thread and there are some real beauties in with the fear and hatred.

Personal favourites:
  • £66m is the going rate for a GK
  • We’ve stagnated over the past 3 seasons  (3rd, 2nd, 3rd i guess can be seen as stagnating)
  • Would pick TAA, VVD & Robertson over our defence

I’m not just saying this but I think this is gonna end in tears. A massive massive part of their success last season was a freak season by one player. It was clear when he went off in CL they were bang ordinary.i think Salah made firmino and mane look better than they really are If he doesn’t fire they could massively flop. Even if they got fekir. You can’t start comparing fekir fabinho Keita to de Bruyne Fernandinho Silva. The Liverpool 3 are totally unproven it’s all hype.

I hate Liverpool, but it’s going to be interesting to see how they fare next season if they get Allison and Fekir. Despite finishing fourth, they were the only team who really managed to go at City toe to toe and come out on top. I don’t want them to win the league, but, equally, I don’t think I want to see City walk it again either. Competition at the top may even allow us to emerge from the chasing pack to make a late challenge, only to be thwarted at the last to resume our rightful place as shite banter whipping boys.

It's fair in the current market because fees have been massively inflated precisely by these "sensible" deals such as paying £67m for a goalkeeper.
£67m for a goalkeeper isn't very high in the current market

Like any market its all about supply and demand, the demand for goalkeepers that are at that top level is high with the supply being low due to the fact the top goalkeepers rarely ever leave their clubs

Also he is under 25, meaning he has ten years to play at the top level

Goalkeepers arent like a outfield player where their value to their team starts to decrease once they hit 30. At 30 he still can move on to a big club and for a decent fee(it wouldn't be as high as this one as he would have one contract left in him)

There isn't one, considering that Buffon in 2001 went for €52m and the world record at the time was €77m for zidane

Whilst today the record of Neymar is £198m whilst Alisson is going to cost £67m.

Its a inflated market which goes up naturally anyway, the prices are higher than usual due to the premier league having an influx of cash with the tv deal

The market is going to get higher now anyway as premier league clubs get desperate to sign foreign players whilst the rest of europe can carry on trading afterwards. They now that once they get the cash from the PL, (the biggest importer of players for big fees) They can do their shopping afterwards.

Before PL had bargaining power with regards to winding the window down wouldn't allow the selling club to get in all the necessary replacements. So unless a club was desperate it was in the selling clubs interest to work a deal earlier, now they know they have 3 weeks of uninterrupted shopping after the transfer deadline with no risk of being gazumped by PL clubs(for example like chelsea buying young players and putting them on loan)
