Point being it's a bit rich pointing fingers at City and PSG

Why? He has worked to try and make la liga more competitive. La liga is moving towards the premier leagues distribution of tv revenue. It is taking time but he had to get the backing of his own government to do it.

If you want to you could say that chelsea is also 'petrol money' seeing where abramovich's money came from.

Really can't see how tebas is the bad guy in this.

Yes you could, but he didn't, Tebas that is.

No he didn't. This is what he did say...

”The problem with PSG and City is they’re state-run clubs: one off petrol money, one off gas.

”The damage happening on Euro football is massive because they are inflating the market so clubs have to pay ridiculous sums to keep their players.

“There are clubs who could not care less what their real incomes are when they want to sign a player because they receive incomes from a state.

”It forces other clubs into an economic situation which is really living on the edge. It skews the balance of the entire European football structure,” he said.

”This is no longer sport. This is no longer an industry. It becomes more like a toy, the plaything of a state.

”And when it’s a plaything, kids start playing with other kids. You end up ruining the entire system,” he concluded.

Not sure how that brings ethnicity into it though.

Clubs should be run and operated by their members for the benefit of their members..........the problems started when Football Clubs stopped being clubs and became commercial entities. They are now run solely for the benefit of shareholders and there is absolutely no benefit to the members.........it's a mystery to me why they still call themselves clubs?

With leeds being bought by qatar and newcastle being bought by uae they really need to toughen ffp. Costs and wages of players have already spiralled out of control. This will make it even worse.
I would say limit spending on players to just tv and matchday revenue. But you know that they'd just charge £500 a ticket then buy them themselves leaving normal fans fucked.

If ffp can work. Then great for newcastle, leeds and the prem. Make it more competitive again. The more teams able to compete for the title the better.

They haven't done any of that though or at least they never started it. Wages and transfer fees have been inflating steadily for years across Europe and has been more so linked to the inflation of TV money which Barca and RM have been the greatest beneficiaries of in La Liga due to the disproportionate way the money is distributed there. But in the EPL United, Pool etc would be happy to see the same arrangement that Barca and RM have benefitted from.

They are hurting now because they have come up against a much bigger competitor. But arguably the greatest culprit of inflating transfers and wages was RM in the galactico era.

Yes and tebas is combatting that by changing the tv distribution in spain. He had to get the spanish government to enforce it. It will take time as no club can earn less from new tv deals but the tv gap is closing.

@KILLA_SIN you blaming tebas for barca and real being monopolies in spain is the same as us blaming poch for spurs being shit in the 90's.

Im not blaming Tebas for anything, I just don't agree with his assessment.

Fair enough. But we are in an era where football clubs are moving further and further from the fans. They are not even businesses now but political tools for countries. That can't be right

I don't find Quatari/UAE politics any more nauseating than I find our own

Then feel free to criticise our own politics and politicians. I think both corbyn and boris are wankers and would hate either to be in charge.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't criticise other things we don't like.

United spent 430M in the last 2 years on players. City 360M and Pool 330M. Got no problem with City keeping United away from the Title. I don't feel Citys success is as bought some would have you believe. And they did something Chelsea have never achieved when they were spending big, they played with style.

I might be wrong, but I thought KDB was a record fee for a midfielder when he signed, Stones was a record deal for a CB, Laporte is the second most expensive CB now, Mendy and Walker were the two most expensive full backs, Emerson was a record for a goalkeeper...

And then you look at the money they can just write off for players like Otamendi who they sign for £40m and can then just replace a season or two later.

All of those fees have been eclipsed
