All of those fees have been eclipsed

Of course they have. The market prices have risen, in large part because of the prices City were willing to pay for their players. And when City need to replace those players the records will be eclipsed again.

I have said this in other thread It would be interesting to see if Transfer fees record would be broken again this summer, But I think they have probably peaked.

With yet another Sheikh entering the game, the willy waving will only increase. It’s incredibly naive to think that the spending won’t continue, or indeed increase.

The new one will have to buy overpriced average players as well, no one is going to Newcastle.

And in a few years time when they’ve cracked the top 4? When it’s them and City spunking cash at each other for years to come?

People are so short term with their thinking into this kind of problem. People likely said the same when City wasted thirty million on Robinho in 2008. Look at them now.

That's what I'm saying. Just because Newcastle get money doesn't change much. They'll just inflate the prices of dross.

Do Newcastle need a new RB, LB, and slightly past it Striker? Could be handy if they do!

United spent 430M in the last 2 years on players. City 360M and Pool 330M. Got no problem with City keeping United away from the Title. I don't feel Citys success is as bought some would have you believe. And they did something Chelsea have never achieved when they were spending big, they played with style.

Massive difference between Utd spending money that they've generated by being successful and marketing themselves vs. City who were just handed billions in a brown envelope essential and then use a network of dodgy accountants and lawyers to launder the money.

Utd have built up their money over decades of success. City went from being a shit mid-table club to the richest club in the world basically overnight

I know, it's brilliant watching United squirm. All those decades of success eclipsed overnight.

Some scouser on Talksport talking about how Citeh's woes will give the 'pool a chance to strengthen while the Mancs take their eye off the ball; with Citeh squaring up to receive a pounding in the butt from UEFA/FIFA over this FFP business, as long as they can delay any decision for a few months then there's a huge chance that they will go for broke over this, spend huge on a few incoming, ship out whoever they can for as much as they can, then maybe try and barter a transfer ban instead of being kicked from the CL.

They're already in hot water over their spending so, literally, in for a penny and all that, if they fill their ranks and can do it without breaking any more rules quick enough (so chuck insane amounts at whoever they want and offer massive wages to get the deals over the line asap), then they can set themselves up for a season without transfers with the purse they have.

It'll be interesting to see how quick UEFA/FIFA act on this.

Curious what their "fans" think of it. He's not been a favourite this season.

The one thing that struck a chord with me was in a recent interview when he described his arrival there...he said he looked around the dressing room and all he saw were winners.
I sometimes think that's what we lack, a seasoned player probably about 30yrs old now who has enjoyed success at the very top level. I don't know who but I'm sure the influence someone like that could have on players like Son and Alli prior to a big game would only be to the team's advantage.

I don't know how neccessary it is to have someone at that age who has won a lot (as they would probably be quite expensive and present a risk regarding motivation). Having players who have been integral in getting their team to several quarters/semis would probably take us a long way.
