Relativly speaking anyway....After all the money they have spent, they looked shambolic tonight. No shape in the midfield. Holes in defence. No back up striker for Aguero.

Its amazing how much cash they have burned in the transfer market. The manager is in way over his head too.

Despite being the most lottery winning of lottery winning clubs, I don't really mind Man City.

Except Nasri.

Fuck that ****.
Nobody minds Manchester city because they are quite irrelevant. So it doesnt matter if they win the league or get relegated.

I am not sure if we would even notice if they just stopped existing all of a sudden.

You would because Man City are an old club, with their own history, and are very much part of the English football furniture.

I wouldn't even mind a thread to talk about another club but why do we need the "lets all laugh" before it, does the OP not realise that City have had our number for a few years now, have finished abbive and will continue to be a more successful team than us for the foreseeable...really don't know what we ought to be laughing at?

Funny old team really.

Even though they have an abundance of talent, they're a bit, well, dull. There's nothing to write home about with them at the moment.

They could do with some fiery players creating a bit of controversy, or a rampaging, cavalier style in Europe....something! Anything!

Personally I think it'd be a bit more interesting if a billionaire came along and said "Right, I'm spending millions but it's only on English players; we're going to have 100% exclusive English players". Or "I want to create the infrastructure, so that in 10 to 15 years time, Man City will only field players from Manchester". Hell, or perhaps he'd say "Only left-footed players", "Only goalkeepers", "Only right backs"...hang about, I think Spurs already did that one.

Anyway, assemblying a squad of highly paid foriegn mercenaries is fun at first, but then gets a little boring.

It's like inventing your dream squad on Fotball Manager; it's fun for about an afternoon and then you decide to do something else.

I bet when they dropped down the divisions you were following their results every week?
I wasn't and wouldn't have noticed if they ended.

No offence to them and no animosity just not a team that i am interested in.

Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to football, but I don't like it when a club goes into administration. I think it'd be shame if that happened to any club, big or small.

Oh well. They offer Messi 40m a year, and sounds like Guardiola has agreed to join.

Wasn't really saying that. I wouldn't want them to go into administration. Just rather they don't really matter to me personally.

I agree with others that discussion threads are fine, not sure 'Lets laugh at....' are continuously needed though.

Personally I think that whilst City have a couple of titles to their name, are consistently competing at the top and I'm sure their fans are pretty satisfied, as an outsider looking at them I don't think they are in as great shape as I'd expect them to be with their bottomless pit of money. I think their squad should be the best of anyone's on a world level, but it lacks quality depth in certain areas and they have an ageing squad that relies on Aguero, Silva, and Kompany and Yaya who are now creaking with age. They should really be dominating the PL currently and not giving anyone else a look in.

Not buying another striker was a surprising decision considering Agueros injury problems and Bonys form for them so far. Maybe they were saving the money for that one megadeal that the papers are talking about now.

Look at the likes of Preston, Huddersfield, Burnley, Blackburn, Wolves, Ipswich, Derby, Leeds & Notts Forest, all previous league and European winners with dare I say it more history behind them than quite a few of the clubs in the EPL these days....

Yep, when I was a nipper, most of those teams were first division teams, and some of them very good first division teams. Liverpool were a second division team and ManU were nothing special. It tends to go in cycles with some cycles taking many decades to complete. It does sadden me a bit to see clubs like Aston Villa, with their rich history, sinking to the depths while clubs like Chelsea with no history to speak of get the benefits that they lucked in to.
