Last season, those few West Ham fans possessed with a pair of binoculars and the ability to read could stare longingly, if not for long, at their 'honours board' at the OS that highlighted their successes of yesteryear.

"You can take away our ground, but you can't take away our history", they would say.

Well, turns out that they were, as ever, wrong, as the 'before and after' pictures below demonstrate...

Some are incandescent at this. Others see it as symptomatic of the problems they face living in a rented stadium. But my favourite reaction was this one which showed a degree of self-awareness not generally present in most West Ham fans.

:ROFLMAO:

Think that e20 have been told to squeeze west ham for every penny by the mayor. You want a wrap you pay £150k a year to rent it. You want billboards advertizing your past another £20k etc...

I can't believe these managers continue to play mark noble. He isnt good at anything and is well past it. As long as they have him in the team they will struggle.

So lets hope he continues to get picked.

I mean, he does offer nothing to them! Watch the effort here:

Great line in F365 winners / losers section today on Noble “Noble is good at pointing, fronting up and moaning at referees but too little else”

Perfect! Noble is the master at fronting up! Shame he can’t actually play football

There was a thread on KUMB that asked posters to predict how many points West Ham would gain from their first four games. Most opted for between 4 and 7, although that was predicated on beating Bournemouth. So how are they all feeling now?

Well, some posters remain hopelessly optimistic...

"I'll revise my original prediction of 12 points down to 6"

While others have been badly affected by the early performances

"After the first 2, my optimism has taken a hit... I can’t see us getting anything, null, zilch...zero"

"There was nothing against Bournemouth in particular that said we are capable of scoring from open play. We may have spent greatly but what we bought isn't showing value. Arsenal will rip us a new one alright and then the despondency will really kick in. Buckle up people, it's going to be a rough ride."

(y)

Others still are happier to take a more balanced, pragmatic and cautious approach...

"Our season starts after the international break"

However, one response to that post suggests some Hammers are already entering black humour territory.

"Which one? Just out of curiosity."

Listening to Stuart Pearce on the debate is quite revealing (although not surprising).

Sounds like a lot of their signings where agent driven. Basically the players they bought were those the Dave’s were offered by agents. No scouting involved. Just “hey look big name player”, “yep, he’ll do to appease the proletariat” (I paraphrased that last bit, it’s stuart Pearce we’re talking about).

Fredricks and wheelchair the only two that were discussed during moyes / Pearce time at the club.

Reminds me a bit of the Ramos season. Despite losing Berba and Keane I was so excited about all our new signings. After we smashed Roma 5-0 I was more optimistic than I'd ever been going into a season.

Bentley the new Beckham
Johnny Two Saints a legit Barcelona wunderkind.
Super Pav fresh from an impressive Euros.
The Octopus in net.
Plus Bale, Modric, Woodgate, Hutton, Kaboul, Bent, etc. How could we not storm the league?

That ended well...
