I grew up in Ilford. Not West Ham territory. Huge Asian population that are mostly United fans, with some Liverpool and Arsenal ones to boot. Haven't lives there for years though, so may be different now. Certainly that way in the 90s and 00s though.

Probably rose tinted glasses, but I was very fond of Ilford growing up. Valentine's Park was always one of my favourite places.

Even if you put the loans and the backhanders and the conversion (both one off and reoccuring) which all ammounts to several hundred million pounds to one side . We still know that the going rate to rent a "World class stadium" is £20M a year, £2M a year is a bloody joke.
Well, it isn't a world class stadium as far as football goes, but £20m per year is not unreasonable rent.
E20 are losing £10m pa to start with, plus money needs to be put aside for roof repairs - a roof that large will soon enough need extensive work. And they should at least be paying reasonable interest on the capital spent on the stadium.

Will probably favour West Ham, nobles been poor (for years admittedly) and going down to ten will likely mean they don’t miss anything but equally can just sit in and defend

Mayor replied to my email.

Dear ....

Thank you for writing to the GLA with your concerns relating to the decision to transform the Olympic Stadium into the multi-use London Stadium. As you may be aware, the Mayor commissioned an independent review into the historical decision-making regarding the London Stadium, last year, and the review revealed that the mismanagement of the previous mayoral administration led to the taxpayer shouldering unnecessary expense and the financial risk. You can find a copy of the report here:

https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/olympic-stadium-review.pdf.

The Mayor is now seeking to redress many of the issues raised in the report. He understands the frustration surrounding the stadium's finances especially given that the West Ham contract has received significant public scrutiny, as is right, however the venue plays a key role in the 2012 legacy, generating much needed jobs, as well as a wider positive social and economic impact. The 2017 World Athletics Championships staged at the venue last year benefited the London economy by some £107m.

The venue is already one of the best multi-use stadiums in the world but more must be done to maximise the commercial opportunities it creates to reduce the burden on the taxpayer in the long-term. Premier League football aside, the stadium has already hosted some of the biggest athletics meets in the world, Premiership Rugby Union, matches in the Rugby World Cup and a range of concerts by some of the world's most popular artists like the Rolling Stones, Jay Z, Beyonceand the Foo Fighters. Next year will see Major League Baseball played at the venue between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, a first for the UK.

Thank you again for your enquiry.

Yours sincerely

Oxford used to have a 5th Avenue.

It’s where you used to go if you were too pissed to get in anywhere else.

I grew up in Gants Hill and spent a lot of my youth and my 20’s in Ilford.

It was never particularly nice, but on the rare occasions I’ve ventured there since it’s become a right shit hole.

I’ve moved a little away from the area ( but still quite close) and the one place that brings me back there is Valentines Park. I went to secondary school there next to the park, but although it has a sentimental meaning to me I still think from an objective point of view it’s a beautiful park. It’s been cleaned up quite a lot as well in recent years too, must have received some council funds.

1 - 1, love it. F***k wet scam.

After the terrible news this afternoon my thoughts and prayers are with Leicester, their fans, players, and staff. West Ham were there when it happened, and all the banter aside, I can only try and imagine the feelings of EVERYONE that was still in the stadium. :(

I once saw a fight in the queue to get in between two guys who took their belts off using them as whips to attack each other. Amusing watching two pissed up people doing that, I think they did more damage to themselves than each other!

For the last four or five seasons, including this current season. West Ham have been so lucky. Lucky that there has always been 3/4 AWFUL teams who will get relegated. I don’t feel like West Ham have ever saved themselves in the last few seasons. It’s always been because some really poor teams have come up.

They will get away with it again this season due to the likes of Huddersfield and Cardiff, who are both shocking.
