They have created a 5 point plan to increase security - but I don't suppose they will be paying for it

West Ham's security plan includes:
Creating more distance between opposing fans to prevent missile throwing. This will be achieved by widening the segregation line on both sides of the lower tier.

Removing risk groups from the stadium permanently with our 'zero tolerance' banning policy

Strengthening and widening the lines of segregation on the lower concourse walkway by creating higher barriers and a 10-metre wide sterile area.

Ensuring home/away fan egress is physically segregated upon exiting the stadium to prevent clashes on the podium. This consists of a physical barrier either side of the away supporter turnstiles, and prevents supporter integration after the game.

Inside the stadium we will also be employing the enhanced tactic of issuing a group of stewards with handheld video cameras. Stewards currently have cameras attached to their armour but we believe this investment will act as a clear and visible deterrent.

You just have to look at all the unregulated demolition and construction work going on all over the place in London

Do you mind if I PM you on this? Or is it just a general presumption? Genuinely interested as I am entering the sustainability & real estate industry.

I wonder how long it'll be before the authorities realise that the stadium is completely unsuitable as a football ground and talk starts on allowing them to demolish it and replacing it with a purpose built football stadium, perhaps with safeguards for athletics like a purpose build athletics centre elsewhere, Crystal palace for example.
Last week I posted this, it got eight funny ratings, today the Sun is saying that the stadium is not fit for purpose as a football stadium and should be demolished for a purpose built ground.
Remind me, what paper does Karren Brady write for?
I said West Ham will have their own new stadium on the site in ten years and I Stand by that.

Following next years IAAF World Athletics Championship at the London Stadium there is absolutely no requirement for a 50k+ athletics stadium in the UK for probably 50yrs at least, so I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this 'initiative' gain traction.

The National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace can accommodate up to 24k with temporary seating, easily capable of housing any athletics events bar an Olympics or World Championships, while UK Athletics is actually based at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham (capacity 13k, just 2k short of being able to attract Diamond League athletic events).

There is NO need for athletics facilities at the London Stadium after 13th August next year.

What is your point? British athletics have a 99 year lease on the stadium they are not just going to give that up.

So where are they gonna play after that if the stadium gets demolished? They've fucked themselves.if they wanted that land. They should have waited another 6 or 7 years to move and paid to build a new football specific stadium on the land there.

If they are going to pay for the current stadium, pay for demolition and then pay for a new stadium to be built then fine, I won't give a shit what they do. No way should they be allowed to tear up or redraft an agreement that sees it torn down without having to repay any of the ludicrous amount of money the public has already stumped up for the initial build and the refit.

We're not because they stopped us doing it. UK athletics will acquiesce for a nice little sum of money, Coe is head of world athletics so he's got what he wanted and will not be blamed for anything to do with the Olympic stadium now so will still get the IOC gig in time and all the politicians have gone except for Karren Brady in the house of Lords, there really isn't much to stop them.
