Let's All Laugh At... Let's All Laugh At West Ham

Not only do the World Athletics Championships mean that West Ham can't play any of their first three League fixtures at home, they will also have to switch their League Cup tie to the away team's ground if they're drawn at home. This much we knew.

However, now the BBC have revealed that West Ham will also have to pay compensation to their opponents if they are drawn at home and the tie is switched. This is presumably because the gate receipts are shared equally between home and away clubs in the League Cup and West Ham would be denying the opposing team the 'potential earnings' from a larger crowd. The West Ham Board traditionally exaggerate their attendance figures and reported nigh on 40,000 against Accrington Stanley last year, so I suspect that they'd have to pay the difference between the revised crowd and that figure at least.

Or, as one poster on KUMB put it...

"Not only have we deprived the vast majority of our support the opportunity to watch the team for this fixture, we now face the prospect of paying our opponents to knock us out of the competition. What a farce."

Hernandez returned to Old Trafford today, having made over 100 appearances for Manchester United. It's always difficult going back to a former club, best summed up by this poster on KUMB...

"We all know Chicha was in a bit of a dilemma; "should I celebrate, shouldn't I?" - Luckily for him the team have rallied round and ensured he doesn't have to worry about it!"

:joyful:

Oh, and they say it's always too early in the season to look at the table in August, so I'll restrict myself to just looking at this part of it:

20. West Ham P1 W0 D0 L1 F0 A4 Pts0

It's 90 minutes though it;s the continuation of the whole of last season, people still trying to justify supporting BIlic and I don't get why, because he had a pint at the boleyn once followed by pie and mash, his one of us ain;t he, any other manager would get crucified

90 mins in and we're onto #BillicOut

Football really feels like it's back now!

I watched this afternoons matches with a West Ham fan and a Newcastle fan. The West Ham fan was reeling off a list of their "star signings" before the match and bragging that their target is top 4 this season. Apparently though, they don't like being called "The East End Galacticos" because after every goal they conceded that's what I called them and he wasn't too happy about it.

As for the Newcastle fan, I berated him personally and held him accountable for every hack that his team got away with. When we scored our first I brushed it off as being expected against such poor oposition and then when the second went in I gloated fully in his face singing a song about Ben Davies.

What a day to be alive, and there's even fresh ITK to be had

Are West Ham really about to buy Carvalho for £30m? That's an amazing signing for them if it happens. Why are no-one else in for him?

They've made a 2 or 3 very astute signings this window, if they weren't such a clusterfuck of a club I'd almost believe they'd do well...

The funniest thing about their "Other PL matches" thread is that on Saturday afternoon they were all laughing at the thought of Chelsea being bottom of the league.

How short of options must he be to consider going to West Ham? I'd rather stay in Lisbon!

Carvalho is a weird one. I often wonder if he's the new Miguel Veloso. He seems to get like naked with good sides every summer, but nobody ever took the chance. There has to be a flaw there somewhere...perhaps him making Tom Huddlestone look mobile and athletic is the issue?
