Especially in the underpass

I remember the underpass from the UEFA final way back in 1972, was a potential worry but nothing ever happened to
myself and my mates on the occasions we were there.

Darts and beer bottles were always a danger anywhere and anytime back in the 1970's.

Quite a few Glasgow Rangers fans turned up WHL wearing crash helmets one time as it was protection against missiles
- they expected it to happen at WHL.

There was the knife throwing incident down at the Park Lane End also. Then the Villa's Holte End had a net across the middle
of the terrace to stop stuff being thrown too and fro between opposing fans. Loads more like that up and down the country.

Thankfully old bill stopped the bottles coming in the ground, although I know of an axe being wielded in the Kippax many
years ago.

My dad told me about how they used to chuck glass bottles at the roof so all the shattered glass fell on the away fans.
Just a bit of banter, match going snowflakes these days wouldn't last two minutes!
