When we think of our heritage, we think of Arthur Rowe, push and run, Bill Nicholson, the Double, the glory, glory years and Danny Blanchflower. Liverpool have Shankly and Paisley, Arsenal the Herbert Chapman era et cetera et cetera.

But what of West Ham? What's their heritage?

Well, funny you should ask because West Ham have just launched a new fashion range which goes under the 'heritage' brand.

Now it's not an extensive range - which is perfectly understandable given their, shall we say, variable history - and indeed, there is but one T-Shirt design.

But what design do you think there is on said T-Shirt? What is the most West Ham thing they could think of?

One of their old players? No. One of their laughably few triumphs? No. A classic claret and blue motif? No, again.

The most West Ham thing they could come up with - the thing that West Ham thought was the most appropriate image for their heritage - was a picture of West Ham fans throwing bottles at the Manchester United bus.

Seriously.

Still, it's just a bit of old tat in the club shop. It's not as if they've roped in the players to advertise it or anything.

Oh...

Heritage = The stuff that hasn’t sold for 4 years that is taking up space in a warehouse and needs shifting. Let’s get Nobz to looknhard wearing a purple anorak, that’s sure to attract buyers.

They'll probably do one of this as a special edition for Halloween:

Should this be "Let's all cry for West Ham" ?

A few highlights from that link...

Meanwhile Karren Brady's rhetoric regarding the stadium had changed considerably - the "world's best stadium migration" is now referred to as "a satisfactory move" in the document.

David Sullivan was previously quoted as saying he had received better offers for the ground, but sold to local firm Galliard as they would ensure the club's legacy would be respected. Galliard are believed to have sold the ground less than 24 hours after it was purchased to a subsidiary of Barretts.

Tickets sales rose from £26.9million at the Boleyn to £28.6million at the Olympic Stadium - an increase of just £1.7million

£1.7 Million increase! I actually thought that was wrong until I looked it up online. I thought they would have quadrupled their money when they moved into the New Stadium.

Which they're actually losing because they now don't get all the food and beer sales which they did at the Boleyn.
