I was privy to some ITK on Man United the other day, I can't relay it all on here and a lot of it wasn't hugely surprising but it very well described where that club is at the moment and it made me very optimistic that we can stay ahead of them for a more few years yet.

The least surprising thing is simply that Woodward is the Glazers' guy. In his former job as investment banker helped them with the takeover, they brought him in as commercial director shortly after that, and because he was so successful there they promoted him when Gill left. Nothing new there at all, that's all public information, but it was confirmed that as long as the club makes money, Woodward won't be let go because of what happens on the field. On field performances are almost inconsequential to the Glazers.

It was said (partly in jest) that the best season for the Glazers would be a season where Man United finised second in all competitions, which would near maximise their income potential but they wouldn't have to fork out millions in win bonuses. But that's more or less where they're at right now.

Another bit of not surprising info is that Woodward wants to do everything and be in control of everything. They can't attract a "proper" Director of Football because of the demands Woodward has in terms of interference from his part that will diminish the DoF's role. That's the main reason why there are no experienced names in line for the role and they've been sounding out the Man United old boys. The role Woodward wants between him and the manager is only half of the job a Monchi, Begiristain, etc. would want.

This might all be information that is either wholly or partly in the open, but it was nice to hear it from someone who has many, many sources on the inside of the club. And it just confirms that as long as Woodward holds the power he does, that club isn't going to be regularly successful any time soon.

Cheers. Sounds all more than likely. Thanks for passing it on.

I've always been on Mourinho's side regarding his time at Man Utd. While I have never really liked him and am sure he wasnt to blame for some of the things that happened this season Ive always felt there has been more to this than meets the eye.

I know it's The Sun but it's an interesting article based on your posting (y)

Sky Sports reporting that they're offering Rashford £300,000 a week for a new deal.

10 goals. £300 grand a fucking week.

It wasn't that long ago that Man United were the most elite club in the world. They had no weaknesses. They had quality everywhere.

Now they're paying a lad that's not a regular starter and scores infrequently one of the best salaries in the premier league.
What on Earth is wrong with them?

I mean, it's good for most of us. If they're then stuck with him for 5 years at £300,000 a week it might stop them buying other players and actually getting better. But how has it gone so wrong for them?

Massive trending tweets on DDG leaving Man Utd.

Poor lad only on £200 k per week.
.
I never realised Jorge Mendez was his agent.

Irrespective if his firm this season he is still a superb keeper and he’s stayed longer than necessary in the hope of winning trophies. Yes they’ve paid him handsomely but he could have his pick of clubs most anywhere. I don’t blame him for cashing in. And United either need to match his ambitions which they’ve promised in but not delivered or cash in

Unlikely I know, but if the chance to sign De Gea came up, would people swap Lloris (or sell to fund) ?

I think I would.

It's called the "Sanchez-Pogba" effect.

The Sanchez deal has to go down as the worst deal in football history in terms of contribution vs cost.

Not only because of how much they pay him but also because of the potential rift in the dressing room over his earnings (which has been discussed in various articles) and the subsequent demands of parity from their other key players in future negotiations.

An unmitigated disaster all round.

The 'Sanchez deal' is the embodiment of United in recent years.

They would benefit from a self-imposed transfer embargo.

Considering the rumours of him being troublesome in the arsenal dressing room, it’s nuts that anyone sanctioned it.

Woefully mismanaged club for the last decade.

Utd have the second lowest (behind ourselves of course) wages to turnover ratio in the league. Wages really aren’t an issue for them.

Try telling that to Woodward as he tries to sell a bang average player on £150K pw to another team... the player will just ride out their contract. Thery can afford the wages but they cannot shift the deadwood.

MEN reporting that Daniel James has agreed personal terms.

Diminutive, tricky and rapid right winger. If he can step up at a higher level he's exactly the sort of player their attack has cried out for. Could be a brilliant signing.
