I read an extract of that press conference and he trotted out the 'we are Man Utd' line at least twice then.

So cringeworthy. The club has become a parody of itself with that queef in charge.

Substitute Newcastle for Palace, Leicester, Bournemouth or any other PL club and it works just as well.

Bottom line is no club that has been in the PL for most of the last five needs to sell players to balance the books any more. Therefore they can demand top dollar for their most important players.

I've heard it said by a few people that the academy has been left to fall by the wayside a bit since SAF left, and even in his latter days too it was in decline. Also I think their academy is often quite overhyped and they still dine out a little bit on the "aura" of the whole class of 92 stuff even though that was a bit of a one-off stroke of luck in large part.

Right. But even still, there's no doubt that the Class of 92 is a big accomplishment and fair play to them for that. My issue is that I think they're still dining out on that one-off miracle generation and using it to perpetuate the idea that that's something they do every couple of years but in reality the academy isn't meant to be anything to write home about any more.
