So United get more money next summer.

Pretty much this. I reckon he's been given assurances that he can leave for definite next summer if he signs a new contract. He'll get his move, Real will get their man, and United will get their money. Everybody wins.

Isn't it about a buyout clause? 30 million or something stupid, but if Real really want him they'll pay it.

I quite enjoy the fact that there not the big boys of English football anymore. United fans are far to smug.

There was more rubbish in the press recently about them going in for Ronaldo as well as Bale - they're loving the vaporware signings leaked to the press of late, so much unrealistic crap to do with players they have no hope of getting. Bit like arse with Benzema every bloody window, even though its a huge step down for a regular starter at RM. Unfortunately our level means its Moutinho and Berahino we get strung along with :(

nothing new for LvG, hard on the players and most of them do not like it.... and their performances reflect it.

no fergie = no ref bullying, so manUre have to play with just 11 men again... :pompous::stop:

They're still the most valuable club in the league and one of the largest sporting franchises in the world, I'd not go that far. Would take very little to put them back up there.

I wonder how they'll cope with the Shaw injury. I guess they have plenty of cover with Blind, Rojo and Valencia all available to play there, but I can see it being a bit of an issue for them.

I got bored and picked up on something somebody said in another thread about how we've played more teams in the current top 8 of the EPL than anyone else and ended up calculating the average league position of every EPL teams' opponents in their opening 7 games.

Long story short: Toughest start - Newcastle (average league position of opponent is 8th (8.0))
Easiest start (by some margin) - Man United (13.3)

We were 2nd for toughest with our opponents so far having an average position of 8.6. Bournemouth were 2nd for easiest with 12.4.

So, perhaps unsurprisingly, Man United have had a piss easy start to season. Not only on paper but also in practice as they havent played any in form teams (except us on the opening day if that counts) but have played each of the bottom 3. Their next 4 league games are nasty though:

Arsenal (a)
Everton (a)
City (h)
Palace (a)

They could quite conceivably go from top of the league to not winning in all of October.
