Don't wish that injury on anyone. Felliani gets a lot of guff, but think he's a decent footballer. Just more function over style. Him being injured will hurt United, no doubt about it.
Every time I find myself thinking the same he elbows somebody and I remember why i thought he was a **** in the first place

He plays a particular role quite well which has meant he's become important to Utd tactically, but generally speaking he's nowhere near good enough to be playing for Man Utd.

His manager thinks otherwise.

Like I say, he performs a function very well and Mourinho likes him for that. I doubt Mourinho seriously thinks he's a world class player. He's just useful for the time being.

How does that even make sense? Not good enough but is important to how united play?

Yeah but no one actually mentioned world class did they? If the manager thinks he's good enough for the club then he must be good enough for the club.

It makes perfect sense. Looking at his strengths and weaknesses/attributes I don't think he's got the quality to be a top class player, but in the system that Mourinho has set up, there's a niche role for him so he can be useful at that specific thing, which is important to the team as a whole.

In other words he provides more value than the sum of his parts in the specific role he's being asked to play. It's really not that hard to understand.

Not necessarily. If he wasn't already at Man Utd, there's no way in hell Mourinho would have gone out of his way to bring him in. The manager has him in the squad because he was there anyway and has found a way to make him useful.

Yeah but by that logic you need to ask why hasn't Mourinho move him on? That doesn't make much sense, he dumped Schweinsteiger because he wasn't good enough for him and thus not in his plans so therefore if he thought the same about Fellaini he would have moved him on.

I never said he doesn't want him at the club, I said he isn't a very good player and on his own isn't good enough to be in the starting 11 at a team like Man Utd, however Mourinho has found a way to make him useful. I don't understand what's so difficult for you to comprehend. There are plenty of players who are not necessarily top draw players for their club, but still do a job/have a role to play. You're making out like this is some crazy concept that I've just made up but it's actually pretty normal.

As a random example, take someone like Solskjaer. Was he good enough to be Man Utd's main striker and lead the line in a team competing for the CL? No he wasn't, but he made a niche for himself as a useful option off the bench and an excellent late substitute or as a rotation option in certain games. The same concept applies to Fallaini. Is he a player that's good enough where if he was playing for Everton still, Mourinho would be knocking on Woodward's door saying "Get me that Fellaini kid, he's the missing piece in our midfield". Probably not, but because he's there already Mourinho has found a way for him to be useful even though he's not necessarily a top quality player.

Fellaini offers united an effective plan B that has bailed them out countless amount of time, therefore he is an immense value for united. Doesnt make him a brilliant footballer, just a very effective one.

Only world class players are good enough to play for United? Without even getting into the tedious 'world class' debate, that's just patently untrue. For one example, every team has water carriers or the like to help free attackers from expending energy pursuing defensive duties. Your Solskjær example just shows that you don't have to be world class to be good enough for United.

*scratches head and waits for next laboured response*

Well let's try to stop moving the goal posts of your argument first shall we...first you said this:

he's nowhere near good enough to be playing for Man Utd.

But then like I said if he wasn't good enough for Utd he would have been shipped out of the club right...well he's still there:)...then you said this:

He's just useful for the time being.

So he is good enough? okay then he's just useful for the time being until Mourinho gets rid...even though he's had chances to get rid of Fellaini in the transfer window before and I see you threw in a straw man there as well...righto

Then you said this:

in the system that Mourinho has set up, there's a niche role for him so he can be useful at that specific thing, which is important to the team as a whole.

So now you've gone back on your initial statement admitting that he's important for the team however you've contradicted yourself saying that he's not good enough for Man Utd, bit strange that mate, and then to compound your nonsense you've gone and said this lol

I never said he doesn't want him at the club, I said he isn't a very good player and on his own isn't good enough to be in the starting 11 at a team like Man Utd

Well know you didn't really, what you said is he's not good enough for Utd...even though you went on to admit he is  There's nothing difficult to understand about your opinion, it's your logic which is all over the place which is what's being questioned, it doesn't make any sense especially when we're talking about a player who Maurinho now trusts and is now picking him in the majority of matches...kinda suggests that he thinks he's good enough for Man Utd.

Did he not just whine about not having options from the bench against liverpool? Did he not spend the entirety of the spring complaining about injuries, fixture congestion, etc etc? What a prick that guy is. And the useless press minions that don't call him out for this crap as well.

He is suffering from alzheimer's disease.

Whatever it is I just hope he f*cks off and suffers it in another league as soon as possible. Though I would like to see united go through the toils of a 'Mourinho year' like chelsea. I hope that club is in ashes when he leaves. It'll be just what those entitled, hypocritical pricks deserve for their volte-face on his appointment. I hate united.

His constant whining and miserableness must rub off on the players, surely?

Or is it all an act and he's jovial and laugh a minute off camera. Can't see it personally.

The major football podcasts were reminding us again after the Liverpool game that there's a reason everything usually goes tits up in Mourinho's third season at any club. Once the players start to grow tired of his methods it tends to spiral out of control very quickly.

To be fair the better print journos etc. do call him out quite often for this kind of thing. Personally I don't know why people get so bothered by him. His act is so transparent and he does it every time so I just ignore him/laugh it off rather than get riled up about it, that's exactly what he's trying to make you do.

Man Utd could potentially be without 6 players ahead of the crucial clash with #thfc:
Fellaini
Rashford
Carrick
Rojo
Herrera
Pogba

I guess it's just mindgames from bus conductor Mourinho.
