I would love to see exactly what kind of state the club is in financially! I dont think it would be tooo bad but just to see what kind of figures we are talking about. 200m to repay in total?
Our net spent has been zero for a looong while so whilst others (even shite teams like spam, stoke ect) have been spending each season where(and how much) we have used/ payed off. Last seasons matchday revenue must have been pretty big.
Anybody have any detail and figures? I only know about a 200m loan a while back.

Mate, he literally wanted to take the Club OUT of the local community and move it to the Olympic Park in Newham! And if you think that was just "sabre rattling" or posturing to give him some sort of leverage with Haringey Council, then I'm afraid you're very much mistaken. The proposed move to the Olympic Stadium was very real. I'm sure @Breezer would confirm this to be the case; he certainly has in the past.
THFC is already profitable, mate. And we certainly didn't see any of that money reinvested into the squad this Summer, did we? Assuming they're still around, I think ENIC/Levy's activity - or lack of - in the next 2 Summer windows will be telling: do we see them investing significantly in the football team? Or do they just tread water and do nothing as they wait to sell the Club.
.
He seems to not want to get his fingers burnt paying top dollar if the mad transfer values collapse and is only happy to spend top money if he gets top money. Hence, no outgoings this summer so no incomings.

If we'd sold Rose for £50m, Sissoko for £30m and Dembele for £25m along with TA for £50m I'd wager a bet we'd of paid £55-65m for Zaha,

I noticed this in another thread, thought it might be of interest.

Hang on? You guys got the Fulham game refunded to you in sterling? How did you do that I’m sure I didn’t see an email about that... only that it would come off next year’s season ticket??

Call the ticket hotline, they did mine without fuss.

Shouldn't really be having to call to get your own money back, but hey ho.
Thanks that's great.

We definitely had to sell before we brought. he thought the offers would fly in for rose and toby but he was wrong. I knew the stadium would handicap us but to only have 25m to play with was embarrassing.

Too many people moaning for moanings sake - snowflake generation offended by everything.

They have no idea of the complications on a project of this size and think the world owes them.

The club have been fair.

Stop morning and get over it.
People just want answers, some fans have spent large amounts of money so they are at least owed an explanation.

I really have no idea who is offended or what "snowflake generation" has to do with anything, that just seems like a lazy way of brushing off valid criticism.

Do you really think that they see buying good players as frivolous?

The better the players, the greater the value of the club. If Levy knows nothing else, you can be sure he knows that.

So we need to look elsewhere for the reasons that they trod water and did nothing in the transfer window. I think you can be sure it's not because they're about to sell.
I'm beginning to think they do, Led, especially as "the better the players", the more expensive they are, and Levy seems reluctant to buy expensive footballers. He seems far more interested in buying cheap "potential", or even cheaper "punts" that until recently, he could confidently re-sell. What are your thoughts, Led, are you expecting ENIC/Levy to invest heavily in the squad once the stadium is operational?

I do agree with you. I was not a fan of the idea of moving to the Olympic Stadium, but I don't think that that would have affected the various community projects that the club is involved with in Enfield/Haringey. I also don't think that the motivation was to maliciously move the clubs interests to Stratford... there was just an opportunity to give Spurs a big, new stadium immediately and relatively cheaply. It's the kind of thing that I would expect of the board and is another thing where I think us fans can be quick to make up a narrative about Levy that isn't necessarily true. I much prefer the new stadium on the WHL grounds, but it would have been negligent for our board not to take a serious look at the Olympic Stadium imo.

I totally agree with you about watching the next two windows. I'm pissed off about not signing anybody this window because I think there are a number of second-hand positives that a new signing brings outside of just the on-pitch stuff, but I temper that by thinking about our transfer policy as a whole and not just judging on one window.

By the end of this season we will have a cast iron number for gate + TV revenue and we will also have a far better idea of the requirements for "the next step". Maybe that next step will be qualifying for CL again if we drop out - if so that's gonna require big investment. If maintaining top four is the one-season goal then it's less investment depending on contract situations, but probably still investment. If there seems to be a genuine opportunity for a title push (which I personally don't believe there was this year) then I would be more inclined for a gung-ho approach to that, especially when you factor in the lack of spend this window.

I suppose my summary would be that zero incomings is the sort of thing that you can pull, but only pull once. I don't think that this window was done with underhand financial intent at all, but if it were to happen a second time in a summer window (and God forbid a third time) I would be throwing my toys out of the pram in unison with everybody else. It's baffling to wonder why they would do it this window given the WC fatigue, the CM injuries, Son being away and the potential new stadium jitters, but if that's the overall management decision then I'm personally happy to roll with it once.

The end of this season (more accurately next Summer's transfer window) is the big one for me. I can't see any need to be flipping out before that point, but I would hope that us fans can make a really positive impact in the new stadium which will galvanise the board to spend a crap tonne on first team upgrades. I'm one of those fans who doesn't feel like the club owes me anything, but it's my firm belief that once the stadium is fully up and running the board need to start representing a club that befits that stadium.

That’s not strictly true though, because our bid for Stratford was on the premise that we’d knock it down and build again from scratch.

This argument falls down at the fact that we have finished top 4 for the last 3 years running after not making the top 3 for 25 years prior to that.

Arsenal were on a downward trajectory under Wenger, we are not.

did you forget about 2011?

I would like to know what the cost of building this stadium, as there are many conflicting figures being banded about. If there is a considerable over spend, where is this being financed from and is this over spend having an adverse effect on our ability to purchase players. I would just like a bit of transparency regarding all the costs and financing associated with stadium

People always plead for transparency from their clubs when it comes to finances, you will never get it as clubs need to protect their brand. No one is ever going to be privy to information like this especially this sensitive, it's just pure wishful thinking.

Would have thought people would have learnt by now, companies will always spin things for their customers (yes I said customers because that is essentially what we are) to put it in a positive light, always...and the chances are that if the club are keeping quiet on the finances then you probably wouldn't want to know th overall cost and our financial plight.

Your mate should have known there was risk involved with any first game. It is what it is. Glory hunter anyway if he is only interested in first game. Snowflake - two shits

I don't do this too often, but you really are a Tit, and I'm being pretty kind in my wording

Anyone travelling from abroad had to understand there was a risk it wouldn’t be ready for Liverpool. Even just looking from the outside that was clearly obvious let alone what was going on inside. It’s unfortunate for those traveling but they were naive to think there was no risk. But from here the club must only set a date in they are 100% sure. Will be interesting if Pochettino maintains his upbeat Stance. He clearly said we played 38 away games. He can’t suddenly turn round and say it’s not a disadvantage.

yes but would it of hurt the club to word their reply with a bit more compassion. a simple "sorry, but this was out of our hand" would of been a better reply. even if she posted some of the reply she did after the "sorry" might of been received better.
