That’s really odd, when I posted it there was a section at the end of Sam Wallace’s article saying Lewis was bored with Spurs and wanted to sell for £2bn, that the club was being touted around the City. That part of the article now seems to have been removed.

The article is correct thought, the club is on the block and the price is 2bn, I heard that over a month ago from someone very close to the most likely buyer and I informed @Archibald&Crooks via a pm.

Have never had an real desire to see us sold to some foreign super power as there is too much risk involved. But if we are going to stop buying players all together then maybe my opinion might have to change. Would have to be the right investors but it's not like we would have any say over it.
The most likely buyer is US based and came very close to buying us a few years ago (y)

I’ve always been told we want investors and not looking to sell. I guess the completion of the stadium might have changed that. Now would seem a weird time to sell though. The new stadium and (if we get it) could see us turn into an arsenal like cash cow.

That would be soul destroying though obviously. Although I’d take the top 4 finishes and occasional trophy!

My fear is that the club will be burdened with massive levels of debt in order to finance the ENIC buyout. We may well suffer the hangover of Levy's tenure for many years after his eventual departure...

But we already are. Relatively. No-one is going to come along and stick 2B or anywhere near that figure in. Any buy out is likely to be massively leveraged against the assets. Only hope is that whoever they are also has some vision, romance, whatever associated with Spurs and can find a way to square off significant investment in players without worsening the debt position. Either that, or throw everything at the academy so our homegrown are as good as anything elsewhere.

I might be wrong, but is the basic idea here that ENIC have made the club so valuable that any buyout is going to require a large amount of debt to finance? And therefore, any problems whilst a future owner is in charge are actually the fault of Levy for doing his job so well? That's a pretty remarkable train of thought.

It's a bit like saying that Aston Martin are stupid for building nice cars and a premium brand, because their new owners would be lumbered with debt. They should have focused on building mopeds with a 12-month life cycle so any new owners only need a loan from a high street bank to purchase them.

Or saying that you should never date a hot girl because if you break up then all girls after that will not be as good looking.

It's not how the world works mate!

Agree. Any leveraged purchase could be catastrophic..

Devils advocate. Knock down the West Stand. Make capacity 50K. More money to spend on the pitch.

Or best stadium in the country but a team making the Top 6 of relatively low investment ?

A good arsenal supporting friend of mine once said to me, "I would rather we were the shittest run club in the league, but would rfather we won the league". There is a grain of truth in that. As a fan, I just want us to be successful.
