This is what most sensible people have been saying for a while now. The writer is fortunate in that he has a bigger platform on which to air his views/thoughts.

Also, if what has been said about FDB is true in terms of setting the style of play for all teams within the club, then he is a must, as this is the same model as Rogers employs at his clubs and we can see how that pays off....

"The potential at Tottenham is clear. They have some very talented players, are in good financial health and crucially, have more time than they realise. Every season, we are told that clubs who finish fifth or below will be forever outside the Champions League tent. Liverpool finished seventh last term and could still win the title this. Tottenham can move upwards again but only if they prioritise long-term strategy over short-term tactics."

Nailed it.

A brilliant article that covers the difficult issues but also focuses on the many positives. Sometimes I feel in the minority of Spurs fans who feel that Daniel Levy has and continues to do a fantastic job at our club but I think this article fairly highlights this while also focusing on some of the obvious difficulties.
The PL is more open than ever before but as Liverpool and Everton have proved, having the right man as manager and with proper backing, you can change things for the better.

it amazes me that we have had a poor season however we are on the verge of a 6th place finish. We have to look at the bigger picture, with the right manager to impose his style and ideas from the first team down to the youth level we will be up there challenging sooner.

I know levy has his faults, however he has done more good for this club than bad.

he has invested in the playing side to create a squad capable of challenging for honours bar a few tweaks. Invested in a 1st class training facility, looking to build a new stadium.

the future is bright, the future is lillywhite.

''Although anything can happen in a single match, Pochettino was beaten twice in three months by sides coached by Sherwood, a man apparently no longer good enough to take charge of Tottenham. Confused? You wouldn’t be the only one..'

Using a crap simplified arguement to support your viewpoint. Would Sherwoods Southampton (if) consistantly beat a Tottenham side then?

The summer before last DL was reportedly looking for a manager who would introduce a constant playing style throughout the club, who had a track record in management and could get the best out of his players. He was widely reported as having talked to Pep G, amongst others. Then he appointed AVB, who had none of the above!

It just seems to me that DL knows what he wants but the hand on his wallet is over-ruling his head. The simple fact is that in order to get the best value for the club if, and when, he eventually sells he has to have a successful team. That means paying out for a top manager. Poch at Southampton took over a ready made team from his predecessor. Albeit he had them playing good football he has no real track record of developing one himself. We need one who can do that and it seems to me that FDB is the man we need. Let's just hope our dear leader cures the cramp in the hand on his wallet.

Yeah, that's a crap argument, especially when you look at early results in the opening few weeks of the season - Villa beat Arsenal, then lost to Chelsea, who lost to Everton and so on...... Ultimately it suggests that Paul Lambert should be Arsenal or Chelsea manger, but it ain't that simple!

I wouldn't mind his impulse at all if it means he gets so furious with Dim's statements today that he fires him and hires FdB right away.
