Our dreams seems to be fading ?
The thing that I didn't think about is that if we don't qualify for the CL then will that impact on attendances at the stadium? Without wishing to get slaughtered, there is that danger of reduced attendances impacting on revenue and then becoming a spiral.

Probably but then it's unrealistic to expect us to qualify for the CL all the time.

No but equally a very small transfer budget over a period of several seasons will probably increase the risk of not qualifying.

I'm guessing his dream was to get new ownership?

Isn't it all of our dreams? But dreams like that come in stages.. I think it goes something like this at the moment ;
Get more money in (sponsorship secured but not necessarily announced)
Open the stadium (with sponsorship arriving)
Put the club in the shop window
Get a buyer

We're only at point 1. So it may seem like levy is there long term but he's not. His job is to get us to step 4. I'm still confident that by the end of the season there will be new owners circling.

This statement is also worth pointing out:

"The Club’s investment over recent years in facilities has resulted in total gross tangible assets at 30 June, 2018, in excess of £1bn "

There has been discussion from time to time over the valuation of the club - if ENIC were to sell. In this statement, we see that even if Spurs ceased to exist, the Club are worth "in excess of £1B" due to assets that could be sold.*

So, when you add in Football Operations - I think ENIC will be holding out for bids north of £2B. And, at that level, nobody is coming in with the mindset of dumping even more money into the club to improve its value. Whoever buys Spurs will treat the club exactly as ENIC have - an investment that can only pay off based on rising broadcast revenues.

*Yes I know that assets sold under duress are not worth market value, but this is how ENIC will value the club.

@Hercules mentioned that it wasn't that we don't have the money, it's that DL can't/won't get out of his own way to spend it.

We don't need someone who is going to dump a ton of money into the club, we need someone who recognizes that sometimes you just pay the fee to get the player in and not risk losing a deal because MAYBE you can save a few million quid if you just wait them out a little longer.

And that's why Levy needs to go and hopefully will go once the club is sold.

I'd be fine with him sticking around and being a big picture ownership person: set budgets, work the business side and such.

Someone else needs to handle the actual transfers with Poch. Levy needs to give them the transfer budget and get out of the way. If they say "we want Grealish, and think he's worth it for the 25M they're asking" and that # is within the budget then there should be none of this "I'm not signing off on that, we may be able to get him for 15M" crap.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I don't want Levy anywhere near the corridors of power once the club are sold. He is welcome back only as a guest once the club is sold.
If you understand how he operated you'd know it would be a very foolish thing to do, to let him remain at the club and be in a position of power and decision making. That would be a no-no.

So you don’t think 18years is long term?

If we're going to (theoretically) spend 'big' on transfers, we should bring in the best young talent that have re-sale value, if we need to off load them

Simples; job done (y)

Yep, I agree about buying young talent but I think we can start to take a couple more established names as well. In past years we've typically bought young and had a few of those become valuable players who we've sold for a profit whereas I think our revenues are now growing to a point where we could sign up more 150-200k players rather than hoping/working on our young signings becoming good.

Not every signing is going to work out well of course, which is where the job becomes less simple. It's very easy to slag off the likes of Janssen with a couple of years hindsight, but at the time he certainly seemed like a young talent who could do well. But we do have to keep taking those risks I think.

The squad needs some work and January will be very interesting. We actually have recent history of taking losses on transfers (N'Jie, Fazio, Soldado, Paulinho) so I don't buy the rhetoric that Levy refuses to sell players at a loss. We also have recent history of buying young potential (Sanchez, Janssen, Aurier to an extent) so I think our transfer policy is decent there. We just need to get something done that will work for Poch.

Very random. Was just reading about a painting which sold for $90.3m thinking wtf. Turns out (I think) it was bought by our esteemed owner Joe Lewis...

He could have spent that on a central midfielder but then again he is a businessmen not a fan
