The problem is that players can decide not to stay here, Berba Modric Bale so no matter what we want or say, they do what they want. All Levy can do is sign them to 5 yr contracts, say he wants to keep them....and haggle for a top money sale when they want to leave.. Until the new stadium is built and one year after we will begin to see the situation reversed.. i hope! But in the here and now, Poch. to carry on with the building of a strong squad and academy players stepping up.

You do realise that we are spending £1/2bn on a new stadium? So while we'd all love to invest heavily, it just isn't possible.
Maybe invest heavily was a poor choice of words (I was shit faced lol).
What I really mean is make a stand and hold players to their contract where possible.
Some shits you can't do that with as they'll have no problem sitting on the bench all season and just taking the money. I can't see Lloris and certainly not Kane doing that.
Plus its knowing when to make that investment.
If we're sitting in 3rd place when the winter window opens and you need to strengthen then you do it
Obviously I'm not saying we should try and compete financially with Chelsea and Man City.
At least I'm not now.
I don't know what the fk I said last night lol.

Levy has done it before. With Modric and Berba. He will not let a contract go below 2 years for a top player though, as then you are losing out in value very quickly.
He took over Spurs just when Sol Campbell was walking out the door and that stuck with him. If you are not 100% comitted to Spurs he will sell you but on our terms and for the price we think is good. Can't really blame him.
