Considering how many spurs players were in the England squad plus KWP and Winks I'm not sure why there's such an issue with homegrown quota. We've got multiple youth team players on cusp too.

Are we seriously suggesting we need to aim for homegrown players in this window when we've got worthless squad members like Llorente, Janssen, Sissoko, GKN and Gazzaniga taking up space. Could even move on Aurier and promote KWP.

We're the only top 6 team where our business seems to be influenced by it yet we've got much more England internationals, it makes no sense. If you can't sell the dross to free up spaces don't let it influence your targets, just loan them out as they're completely useless to us.

Having enough Home grown isn't an issue... its having too many non home grown. If they cant be in the squad they are taking up time in training etc with no possibility of playing things need to be more focussed than that and I'm sure we wouldn't have many players wanting to come here if we started just throwing people on the scrap heap and not letting them train while they are still under contract.

Therefore we can sign more home grown players as they can be added to the squad more easily.

It's the same thing though, the non homegrown player slots at the club right now are being wasted. There is absolutely no reason for Llorente, Janssen, GKN and Sissoko to be registered next season. Sell them or loan them out. I've no idea why we're wasting 3rd GK slot too.

With us signing Lucas I could understand if maybe 1 out of 3 needed to homegrown but it feels like all of them are having to be. We need to be buying whoever we feel is best and forget about the homegrown thing, signings will be coming in to replace those players so it makes no difference, if they can't be shifted no one will come in.

Sure there was a comment from Trix yesterday that said we need to balance the HG quota, and if for instance we need two HG and one foreign player, and the WF/CF was to be homegrown like Zaha but he falls off the radar, then we go back to the list for the next highest level HG player, and move the allocated foreign player.
For example, maybe we had Grealish, Gomes and Zaha in mind, but Zaha can't be done and there's a chance of Martial, so we move the foreign allocated spot to WF/CF, and pick up a HG midfielder instead.
Just a thought.
In truth, not having seen all that much of him, would be really be any better than Winks and Onomah?

Probably co-incidence, but Bournemouth have been linked with another mid - Sky sports.

CHERRIES CHASE LERMA
Bournemouth
are deadlocked in negotiations with Levante over midfielder Jefferson Lerma.
The two sides played each other in a friendly last Friday, where talks are understood to have continued between the clubs.
Lerma signed a new contract with Levante in May with a release clause of £53.5million - but Sky sources understand they may well accept around half of that fee. Bournemouth value him at closer to £18million.

All this faff just because Poch loves Gazzaniga like his first born..

not happy with this link, not good enough for a CL level squad, hope it's another of those market research type exercises which sees him about 12th on our list.

I want variety in CM so we can adapt depending on opponent- not a poor man's Winks.

So we'll be signing him on deadline day in a panic once everything else falls away then.

Under underwhelming.

I'm a bit the same, I cant help bu think this is intentionally leaked to keep the media busy while we negotiate with our real targets

Would prefer Cook to Grealish personally, Cook just glides past defenders, always receives the ball well and able to play quickly...

Not sure I really get this one. I would be really worried if he was our primary CM target, but in theory I would be okay with him if get someone like Kovacic. Saying that, I don't see why Winks couldn't be our back up CM. Unless his injuries are really serious then I would understand. Really Tho, I would hope we have loftier targets for our starting CM. It's such a vital possition and one we really can't get wrong or scrimp on.
Nothing has linked us with Kovacic. So do we really need to mention him in every thread?
Lewis cook would be a good addition, it’s not about being spectacular. It’s about making sure you can use the ball effectively to get our dangerous front line in play

Too many non home grown players is just the summer 2018 excuse why we are struggling in the market. We get a different one each year.

It’s nobody’s fault but the club’s for buying substandard players. They’ll have to take a hit to move them on if they want to bring quality in or try and loan them out. But we (at the moment) don’t look like we are willing to do that. I’m sure that’s because we need to sell these players to raise funds like every window. It will be like that until we pay for the stadium and then there will be another different excuse.

I’m not saying Cook is a bad player but he’s not the quality we need to push us on.

Excuses excuses you say but the club continues to make progress year by year. Three top three finishes, new state of the art Training Ground and brand new stadium due to open shortly. I bet every club except Man City and Man United would like to be making such ‘excuses’ whilst making the progress we are.

Where did I say we aren’t making progress?

The lad had been playing as one of the main cogs in a very very poor Leeds team from the age of 17, I think it would be quite an astute buy tbh, I was surprised with how little hype there has been around him since he moved to Bournemouth, Think him and Winks will be the future of the midfield for England

By implication if we are making 'excuses' for not getting players that will better us we can't be making progress.

Nope. You’ve just read something in my post that isn’t there. Take a look at the stadium, if that’s not progressing then what is.
