Every time i've seen the best of Holtby he's played as a 10. It's his best position IMO. He's closer to VDV than Modric.

He not really comparable to either. More of a playmaker no.10. He's not there to support the striker he's there to bring all the other forwards in to play. Have to have players willing to run in front or past him

Holtby Sidwell opened the move that resulted in the 2-2 goal with a great pass for Richardson who forced a save from De Gea. Bent scored the rebound from that shot. - As Strikeb4ack points out it was Sidwell..:whistle:

I think Holtby is exactly what Fulham needs, and half a season playing for them may in turn give him the chance to prove that he's what we need as well. He's got loads of potential.

No, that was all Sidwell. He showed great determination to win a 50/50 with I believe Carrick and then fed Richardson.

I actually had to go back and check because watching the game I was certain it was Holtby but you are correct!

Just a minor detail about the match and his performance, but I was so impressed by the way Holtby never gave up.

I don't remember how many times he went up to head a ball just to get completely flattened by a United player twice his size. For some reason he didn't get anything from the referee, but he still never shied away from the next challenge.

It makes a nice change from Ruiz, Taarabt and Berbatov, to have an extremely talented player that also has some genuine fight and determination.

Well done, Lewis - could be a legend in the making!
His set up of Sidwells goal was a treat to watch.
He is an amazing talent and a real fighter. Spurs are complete idiots for not building their team around him. We should do everything we can to keep him when we stay up.
Was very impressed with Holtby, never gave up and was hassling united everytime they came near him. His ball for sidwell was pin perfect as well. Quality player with a quality attitude. Glad hes at our club at the moment, just the type of player we need.
Holtby always works his ass off. He always goes for it and is always looking to turn defending into attacking. He's just what we need. Having said that, there's a huge embarrassment of riches in attacking mids at Spurs. He didn't get as much playing time as he might because they have better in their squad. We don't

He's here with us in order for him to get on the Germany squad. It was a gift from Spurs to Holtby. He wouldn't get the match time with the Spuds through the end of the season that he'll get from us. Add to that the fact that we're already building our team around him, he'll get much more visibility for his many skills with us in this relegation fight that he'd get with Spurs.

We're not going to keep him, though, because he can turn in a useful 15-30 minutes every other match with Tottenham, and they can afford to keep him on wages for those key minutes.
Holtby has everything.

If we didn't have him yesterday - we wouldn't have got anything.

Vidic had to clatter him near the end out of frustration.

Could be one of the shrewdest signings of the January window.
I agree with all the comments above..... Sensational signing

He had a good debut, but yesterday despite not seeing much of the ball he was effective. He run around so much and worked really hard. When he did get the ball he played one of the balls of the season for Sidwell.... Creative and hard working.... Perfect for Fulham Tottenham
Holtby is a world class talent. No idea how we got him.
Holtby could mug me and I'd still love him.

This one guy is a bit over optimistic though..

Kvist may be the real steal of the transfer window. Holtby is the creative fellow we have been begging for and Heitinga was a pleasant surprise. Ya done good Rene.

Now, if the Greek comes good we could be looking at Europe next season and a solid 13/14 this year.

You wouldn't think they're bottom of the league would you?

I have to be honest, I hate... HATE seeing Holtby play for another club. I understand it but I hate it none the less. We'd better keep him next season or I'll stamp my feet and hold my breath untill I die.

I'm sure there will be bids from Germany and other Prem teams, maybe Everton will be in for him.

I think this is brilliant for Holtby and us. Townsend, Walker and Rose and to a lesser extent Naughton have shown there is a future at the club after a loan.

At this stage of his development the game time could be vital for him.

Windy's loan update covered everyone we have out on loan from Livermore to some bloke called Ward playing in America. But he forgot Holtby, having not failed to mention his low pass percentage last week as some sort of 'proof' that he had a bad game. Agenda driven mug*, the love in for him is embarrassing.

*He's previously mentioned he doesn't rate him

Kvist has been great for us! Hope we sign him after this loan period. Also, as many have mentioned, Holtby is playing great. This just what we needed, some players to come in and give the team a boost.

I can see Cole coming on for Tunnicliffe sometime in the second half.
Holtby's influence seems to be spreading, even Bent has worked hard for the team tonight.
great first half, shame about the late equalizer.

holtby has been amazing
We really do have a good chance of survival with that lad Holtby. He's a cut above.
Very happy with the first half. Tactics are absolutely spot on. No shame in conceding from such a good pass.

Holtby and Richardson need a special mention as both have been fantastic. Keep our composure second half and we can win this
Oh my word Holtby. What a footballing brain that lad has. So much talent.
Holtby is so damn good
I love Holtby's energy.
Just give the ball to Holtby. He is just so good.
i love holtby
Holtby is class. Get in there!!!1

All the quotes regarding Holtby off the Fulham match thread. Not got a bad word to say about him
