Looked on FriendsofFulham to see what happened, they're saying he was started at right wing and was poor. Probably the same as when he got played on the wing for us, just can't play there

Well it was 0-0 when Holtby went off. Not saying that he would have made a difference but it's hardly like he was so bad that he could be blamed for the defeat.

They've taken him off very early in the last two games and lost both of them. Correlation doesn't equal causation but I don't think their manager has done them any favours there

I'd like to see him play in centre midfield similar to where Modric played. He'd be ideal as the player picking the ball up from the defence and starting the ball rolling. Dembele is getting injured a lot these days and I like Holtby as an alternative. He works hard, makes himself available and is a tidy player on the ball.

Agree with this -- also does not hang around on the ball, trying to beat players. Looks for the forward pass. If fulham has toughened him up a bit defensively, he could work well there.

Holtby has had, what four managers, this season? Not one of them fancied him in the role. I find that telling.

Maybe he could play the role effectively in a couple of years time when he has calmed down a bit.

He's energy and willingness to play a forward pass is something we sorely miss in central midfield. It's why I'd also like Carroll to get a chance next season because the way we want to play necessitates central midfield players who create the play.

Dembele/Sandro/Paulinho/Siggy/Chadli/Bentaleb/Capoue are at best neat and tidy in possession, but they simply give it to someone else who is going to the difficult bit - and that person is Eriksen. We need more options to break down teams and I think a midfield of Eriksen and Holtby ahead of a DM could be very exciting.

Trust me that's not half of it , a few players have major problems that would surprise you prey were not one of the teams that goes for bony the Christmas party was fun! Talk about cliques just can't be line how complacent everyone in that club has got! Credit to monk to be fair for stabilising it a bit and getting everyone united again things seem a lot better recently. Wouldn't be surprised even if monk gets the job if he doesn't go for gylfi everybody at Swansea from the fans too the chairman idolise him! When michu leaves I think he would be the perfect replacement to keep the fans happy monk even rates our dear old Naughton haha!
What happened with Bony at the Christmas party? I'm very curious. If doesn't get you into trouble, of course...

What, telling that 4 hopeless managers didn't play him there so he must not be suited to play there?

Magath:

"Lewis is a very skilful and a nice player but he is not a fighter - I think it was not the right move for him," Magath said of the player signed by previous Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen in January.

"I think he has put too much pressure on himself.

"Against Hull it was not him who was playing and against Stoke it was even worse.

"It was too early, he came here for a chance to go to the World Cup but after a few weeks it was clear it wasn't working. It was not the right decision for him."

Fuck you, Felix.

What a joke. The fans can see him chasing every ball and giving everything each game, plus Sherwood said he's the hardest worker in training at Spurs. How can he say that he's not a fighter, unless he's been refusing to partake in the martial arts after the morning sessions or something?

I went to the Capital One Cup match against West Ham and after the match he was still on the pitch minutes after the others and was the last one off

Magath should be grateful he was even in the Fulham squad.

Seems to be a bit of a sob story now it's all gone tits up, good luck in the Championship Penfold.

Fulham fans -

I pretty much agree with everything in this post.... Magath must take the blame for the downfall of Holtby, he was a different player when played out of position, but Holtby simply lacked effort and fight when it really mattered. I also think he may have been too soft with our players, and his reputation for a hard working manager who was a strict disciplinarian was never seen.

If he is still here next season, which seems to be the case then I fully expect us to see a new approach from Magath, and anything less than an organised, hard battling side will be unacceptable.

Fulham will win today, and win well.... you heard it here first
His downfall swemed to come after his personal life problems with the affair. Could it have been that?

I think him playing Holtby out of position is what did it

Nah it makes sense to leave him out, if you've got nothing left to play for and no hope of keeping him, why WOULD you include a loan player in the last game of the season?

Much better to let the fans give a cheer to a promising youth player (like we did today) or put one of your more marketable players further in the shop window.
