New season to begin this evening with OM v Toulouse. We've lost a big contributor to this thread. I will dutifully pour a drink out a la Snoop Dogg.

Prediction: Lyon champs - Allez Les Gones!

PSG beat Lille tonight to set a new record of winning the first twelve league games of a season beating the Spurs record of eleven.
Now I'm sure that record has been beaten before but only in a small league somewhere, this one is relevant because it is in one of the top five leagues in Europe so congratulations PSG.
My question is this, when did the FRench league become a big league? I get the English, Spanish, Italian and German leagues but the French? How is Ligue 1 a top league? They currently have PSG who are very good and then a load of fodder with maybe one or two that could possibly survive in the Premier league!
I know it may seem like sour grapes because they took out record but it really it isn't, I'm not happy about it but I have been around long enough to know that records are there to be broken and if, for example, Juventus had done it I'd have felt no different but surely anyone can see the validity in that achievement as opposed to PSG's.

They lost 3-1 to Guingamp in the cup a week or so ago. Must've been out for revenge.

Balotelli has left Nice after falling out with Vieira and is now at Marseille.... I don't see that ending well either!

TIL clubs match-day squads in the Coupe De France are always given numbers 1-18. I like this.

I cringe so bad every time I see Rui Patricio wearing the number 11. Serie A is a joke when it comes to shirt numbers

Alexander-Arnold as 66 annoys me too.

To be fair we're not bad when it comes to numbers. If we play 5 at the back our preferred back 5 and keeper are 1-6. Only ones who "buck a trend" in our squad are Dele and Eriksen.

You had the glory days with Stalteri as our designated number 7 and the Deuce as number 2 up front

He only has 11 as a tribute to Karl Ikeme, the Wolves goalie who retired after a cancer diagnosis last year. He'll probably switch to 1 next season.

Breaking | AS Monaco manager Thierry Henry announces that he has banished “too many to name” individuals from the 1st team to the reserves in a cull against “players who are only thinking about their own futures” in a bid to turn around the club’s situation.

I will take one Sibide with a Tielemans and a side of Golovin please.

I'll give Henry a week before he's out the door.

The rumour is sacking him for Jardim, which would be spectacular.

Bad results have not been Henry’s only problem. He landed himself in hot water on Saturday when he called a player’s grandmother a ‘whore’ during Monaco’s 5-1 defeat by Strasbourg.

Henry was caught berating Kenny Lala from the touchline as the defender took a throw-in near the dugouts just before half-time.

He believed Lala was already wasting time with his side 2-1 up, and shouted: ‘It’s the 43rd minute, your grandmother’s whore.’

After being caught on camera abusing Lala, Henry took a moment during his press conference on Sunday to apologise for his comments.

‘It’s an expression of the street, unfortunately,’ he said. ‘I regret my comments from the bench. It was a human reaction, I’m still human. I regret it.

‘Sometimes I do it in English. Maybe in English it wouldn’t have been as noticeable. No, I’m joking. I should not do it.’

I mean who didnt see this coming with his "analysis" on sky. The incident with shouting at the player doesn't surprise me at all, he's always been a bellend.
