watched it as well...dont agree with the harsh ratings above but the comments are reasonable.

8 - Lamela
7 - Kane
6 - Dier, Naughton, Dembele, Chadli, Loris, Bentaleb, Soldado
5 - Vertonghen, Holtby, Paulinho
4 - Townsend, Davies

Frustrating game. They snapped at us and the pitch was awful. Calamitous defending between Jan and Paulinho resulted in well taken goal. Dier looked solid. A player you dont see during the game which means he is there and is doing his job. The other Belgians were fine but looked off the pace a little as you would expect. I thought Andros and Ben were poor. Andros was trying too hard again. He needs to conserve energy and try not to be Mr. Onemanteam. Ben Davies has no pace and when he is turned he cant pick up his man. A Dawson at LB unfortunetly. Lamela and Kane outstanding. The young Argie lad is brilliant. But he needs to show up in the PL and its only a matter of time before he embarrases a team badly on the pitch. Kane looks like a big lump these days. The lad has filled out and picked up a bit of pace. Going to be a star in the not too distant future me thinks. He has it all. Smarter then the average CF.

I watched it and this is spot on

I like Holtby, but I have to agree that when he does the pointless "run 50 yards to the CB, receive a pass and immediately pass it back, then run away" it winds me up too. We have a few players that pass straight back to the player that passes to them without either player moving and I hate it, what is the point?

There's nothing in the game that irritates me more. We ought to have a nickname for that pass (like a nutmeg), perhaps the yoyo pass, or the fuckwit pass. Then Opta can include it in their stats, and the fans an shout FUCKWIT every time someone pl

That could have cost us the game had the pen been scored. What is it they say about senderos? He is a world class defender for 88 minutes of every game.
I've have never heard anyone describe Senderos as world class for 1 min, never mind 88.

Why Ben Davies ? Who is he ? What's he done ? Who has raved about him ? Never been in the headlines I have seen.

Because he's regarded as a solid young LB.

He's Ben Davies.

Played successfully in the Premier League for Swansea City having won his place at a very young age.

Lots of people have spoken highly of him.

You've not been reading the headlines much, and anyway I don't like the implication that we can't sign a back-up player if he's not 'been in the healines' like some kind of superstar.

But but but we need a good first choice left back now. Rose is not.

It's hyperbole. The point being that you can't have a defender that takes "15 minutes to get into it". It takes a few seconds to concede a goal.

Thought on one of Lamela's goal scoring chances, he should have passed to Soldado.

I really hope to see combinations following combinations in the next few games:

Soldado
Eriksen Kane Lamela

Soldadlo
Chadli Eriksen Lamela

Soldado
Chadli Kane Lamela

I wonder if any of those players are banned form their local supermarkets for doing the same with the groceries on the shelves? Its like a type of 'yips!'

Dembele..8...came on and took the game by the scruff of the neck....we completely upped our tempo when he came on and we bossed the midfield from then on.

I didn`t see the match but for me last season Dembele continually slowed down the tempo of our game so this is very encouraging.

I saw the highlights and Lamela was on fire, which is hardly surprising because that pitch was in a shocking state, he is our best close touch dribbler. Lamela is suppose to be a good futsal player so a shocking pitch like that would of been no issue

Only?

From the little I did see, Lamela had a huge advantage over the rest of the Spurs team as it looked like the rest suffer from daltonism.

He came on and you could tell Poch instructed him to shake it up abit, he got on the ball and moved it about turning the opposition and got us going...it was good to see after the lumbering awful Paulinho went off.....

Hope this is a sign of things to come with Dembo.

I am a fan of his, but tbh he always does well when coming on as sub when the game is stretched and players start to tire, i want him to do his stuff over 90m not just when coming on after 60....but i would start him over the others all day, Paulinho is really poor, i am done with him.

Lloris 6.5 good performance as usual, not much to do

Naughton 6 largely stuck to defending until late in the game

Davies 6 again a conservative performance - decent sense of how to close down defensive space

Dier 6.5 simple stuff done well, remarkably good positional sense for a 20 year old

Vertonghen 6 generally capable - the events leading up to their goal were a bit flukey

Bentaleb 6 our midfield was sloppy, especially in the second half - Bentaleb less at fault than most, but still lost possession too often

Holtby 5.5 lots of huff and puff, little precision and caught in possession too often

Paulinho 4.5 similarly, couldn't keep possession, passed sloppily and didn't compensate with any attacking verve - I thought the mess-up for the goal was more of a fluke than a cock-up, but it doesn't exactly add lustre

Townsend 5.5 I thought he played better than most people suggest - when we were totally inert through most of the central 50 minutes fo the game, he was at least trying stuff and, as with last season, he was let down by lack of movement from his attacking colleagues

Kane 7 good team play throughout and an excellent goal

Soldado 7 hard worker, but without much profit until his excellent finish, for which I have given him a whole extra point - not enough movement off the ball in the first hour

Dembélé 7 I haven't seen Dembélé influence a game like that in a long time - finally we had someone who could hang onto the ball high up the pitch and, unlike last season, he would actually pass it to a teammate

Lamela 8 transformed the game and the result from the moment he came on - unlike Townsend, Lamela dribbles without losing sight of where his teammates are, leading to simple, effective things like his gentle, precise push into the path of an almost-unsighted onrushing Kane for the winner

Chadli 6.5 played pretty well and laid on an excellent chnce for Lamela
