For me a realistic stance is we’ve finished above them 7/8 seasons. We destroyed them at Wembley. You could only really make a case that one of their players walks straight into our team(1 or2 more debatable). People are talking like we are going to play Bayern Munich or PSG. This is Liverpool who just lost at home to WBA and have one of the worst backlines in the league.
They always get up for big games though.

I think people are cautious due to the run of results we have had at anfield.

We all know they are dodgy in defence as they have been for a while, we all know that if we turn up we are capable, it’s also all very well comparing squads. The simple fact is that in the last few seasons this has been a horrendous game for us and we have really under performed.

I’m not saying we can’t win, I’m saying I can see why people are perhaps pessimistic. As much as we need to go here and give a good account of ourselves and play with energy and intelligence, it hasn’t worked out like hat last few seasons.

People were saying the same before we played Arsenal - and we just didn't turn up at all. Obviously if we play at our best, we've got a great chance.

It's got nothing to do with how many players walk in to which team. You focus far too much on "combined 11's". None of Newport's players would get in our squad yet, they played well as a team, were more up for it than us and got a result. Their backline can be shaky and they've conceded some stupid goals but they still have the 6th best defensive record in the league.

If a team is widely accepted to have better individuals but are losing to lesser individuals then you have ask why. It’s not Just oh they sang YNWA really loud what do you expect. If individual players quality isn’t important what’s the point in spending £50m on players. May as well just dip into the league 1 for our targets. My point is you can’t just dismiss these bad performances as oh all it’s Anfield what do you expect. The players will be no less fit than Wednesday. So therefore if it is another tame performance there has to be an underlying reason. Which can only be mentality/attitude or tactics. Anyways hopefully this will be irrelevant and we paste them 0-4 :D

Anfield is always a hard place to go. Hoping to see a great game of football!

I think a great game of football would be bad for us. Better would be a dogged low scoring game with us nicking a late winner. An open end to end game and we'll lose.

You can have a great game of football where we still win 5-0. ;)

Either team is capable of hitting the other team for 3 or 4 today, that's what makes this such a great game. It will be watched around the world!

If we go 1-0 down we have to stay disciplined and stay in the game. I think that's going to be the key to it.

I remember a couple of seasons ago we went there and stayed in the match then Kane scored a wonderful equaliser out of nowhere to get us a point.

Last season it was over as soon as they got the second and they could have scored a lot more that day.

Also I want a big performance from Hugo today. Too often in these big away games he’s a bag of nerves and makes errors. He’s the captain of club and country, we need him to lead from the front.

You can't let them get momentum at home. We need to be miserly and if possible keep a clean sheet. If they get the crowd up like they often do against good sides at home, we'll lose. It's no coincidence that they win all their games against top sides and struggle against the poorer ones. We need to sacrifice our game a bit and make it into a very tight, low scoring affair. If that happens I believe we'll win. Go toe to toe with them and we'll lose.

Listen I spent 30 mins of my last £100 CBT session discussing how I was going to employ everything I’d learnt from the “vicious cycle” and erasing negative thoughts before this game. But you guys are making it bloody impossible :ROFLMAO:

Sorry but Poch has to have Moura on the bench today. I don’t buy this whole easing him in slowly bullshit. Every other club buys players and puts them in straight away. I’m not saying he should start, but would be a fantastic option off the bench today. He can’t play V Newport, so let’s give him some game today.

He's played 80 minutes of football this season.
