Fernando Llorente wants to stay at Tottenham and prove he can be an asset. Spurs seemed to have achieved a coup when they signed him from Swansea last summer, beating Chelsea to his signature on deadline day, but the £12 million forward struggled in his role as Harry Kane's understudy, only managing five goals last season.

Thought he looked decent when he actually got the sort of service he needs. Also looked like he'd lost a bunch of weight.

He's definitely looking trimmer in pre-season than he did last season.

He is exactly what we need - a quality striker and a model professional who's happy to play second fiddle to Kane while bringing no drama or baggage with him whatsoever.

No reason at all that he shouldn't be kept.

Don't mind him staying, certainly no need to shove him out. But if he stays on, Pochettino must realise how Llorente is different from Kane, not how they are alike. Got to use the two guys differently and not just replace the name on the team sheet.

There's every reason to sell him if we get Zaha. He's taking up a non-homegrown slot.

Couldn't agree more, I know we should cut him some slack after a poor first season but he needs to make way for a HG player.

Er, yes he does. He's never gone to a club and not banged goals in.

Stick him in our starting XI for 38 games, and play him in a system that suits his style, and I'd wager he'd score upwards of 20 in a season.

That's not what we need him for, we've got Harry for that. Llorente is more than capable of deputising, and on the one occasion we've actually needed him to pull us out of the shit he scored a hat trick in under 15 minutes.

No he is not more than capable of deputising, at least not at a champions league club. Son is actually a much better striker, he's proved that time and time again. We can't keep a player just because he's a nice guy.

He's won the World Cup, the Euros, Serie A three times and the Europa League. You're talking nonsense.

With no back up for Kane this guy is exactly what we need. He's not going to sign another contract but we don't have a youngster knocking on the door to compete with him.
