2 home games vs teams with only pride to play for. Leicester look on the beach already.
Time for the team to step up, battle hard and bank 6 points.

All good & well to say that Hugo, however, the players have properly fudged the end of this season. Losing in the Champions League following a positive result in Italy due to naivety in our adaptation to the opposition's change in formation was poor. Losing in the FA Cup when we were in front & lacked the ruthlessness to finish the game off was poor. A lack of spine or fortitude to go & press Manchester City in our last encounter was poor.

Too many have been coasting the last part of this season & I would be remiss as to put as many as 6 on the transfer list. Its not good enough & its getting frustrating watching our season peter out as it has with so many putting in lacklustre performances, then claiming we're making progress. League position only qualifies that argument for so long before the discontent begins over when actual success will be ours.

Jurgen Klopp made the following point in his post match interview following the victory in Rome, "We were in a League Cup final, we didn’t win it. People don’t tell me in the street since then: ‘Thank you for bringing us to the final’ ”. We were in the Europa League final, nobody tells me that. I see no trophies after these games. They don’t hang silver medals at Melwood. That’s the game." Juxtapose this with what the Poch said after the semi-final defeat against Man Utd, "“To win a trophy when you face a side like Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City is not easy. But the most important thing is we are able to compete.” I don't want a Tottenham team that just competes. I want a Tottenham side that's prepared to go all out for the win. I can handle losses when you're undone by world-class play & goals to match, however, at the moment our play is deeply uninspiring, tepid & devoid of any type of a threat.

Should the boss be happy hanging his hat on 'competing' every year for a trophy that he doesn't want & 4th place finish in a league that becomes that much harder to win each year, then his days as the gaffer will run out sooner, rather than later.

You're right but different clubs, different expectations.
Liverpool still expect to win something every year, and if they win nothing and finish 3rd that's considered bad.

If we finished 3rd and lost in a CL final it's considered a pretty damn good season.

Talk is cheap, and the same message game after game, season after season begins to wear a bit thin after a while.

I just don't agree with some of the negativity. MOST fans thought this season would be a struggle because of Wembley, and yet after 36 games we are in the box seats. Destiny is in our hands. Good run in CL , Semi Final was disappointing because we didn't turn up, and still a chance to finish third.
Very good season for me, no trophy for sure, but unless we blow the last two games we will kick off in our new stadium next season in a very good position.

There is a very good chance that we may blow at least one of those two games judging by how we have played in the last few games. As a consequence we would probably finish fifth (depending on what Liverpool and Chelsea do obviously). What would your assessment of the season be then?

Wednesday's match against Newcastle looks to be a HUGE game. Spurs desperately need a win this week to turn the tide of negativity that seems to have enveloped the club since the loss to Manure in the FA Cup. Come On You Spurs!!!!!

bozzaSPUR , at the start of the season I didn't think we would make top four, we've outperformed for the most part of the season. Finished top of our CL group when most people expected us to finish third. FA Semi was disappointing the way we played. Our best 11 when fit is a match for pretty much anyone, but our squad isn't as strong as MUFC, LFC and CFC. Having been almost out of sight 4-5 games ago I wont deny 5th would feel disappointing. But 4 points will be enough, Newcastle have lost their last 3 Prem games and Leicester have taken ONE point from possible 15. Come on fella, puff your chest and believe!

4+points and the assessment will be positive! COYS!

Just do the talking on the pitch, not sure if it just the media though but I feel these kind of things are said before all pivotal games and seem to backfire a lot. Maybe just my perception since we have won some key games :)

Well said, no spurs fan enjoys slagging off their team but how many more white knuckle coaster rides do we have to go on before we can honestly say we will do this. I’m travelling from the north east to the game on Sunday and hope and pray that if we beat Leicester, that a win will seal 4th place for us but I know how spursy we are. Been a supporter for 51 years but always the pessimist, prove me wrong for once COYS ffs

We've had some proper nightmare results against Newcastle when we should have battered them. Players need to get their heads out of their arses and put in a proper performance this time.

Normally very optimistic; nothing better than ‘puffing your chest’ and walking around with a satisfied (ok sometimes smug) smile on your face after a Spurs win - of which there have been many this season. I sincerely hope we can get 4+ points from the last two games and maybe we will not need that many. There, is that more positive?

Not sure about anyone else but im slightly angry re his comments after the game that qualifying for the CL "means more than a trophy."

I understand where he is coming from even if it's a little OTT.
If we'd have won the FA Cup but missed out on top 4 this club would not be able to go out and bring in the players that we need to. I imagine every single one of our players realise how important CL football is to this club and should we not achieve that then it'd have such a huge impact for us. He probably senses some players would be agitating for a move away too. So it means a great deal to this club.

I don't like the fact that CL football means more that the domestic trophies but the fact of the matter is that it does. Doesn't mean to say that we should dismiss them though, we need to build a squad/club that is capable of qualifying for CL AND winning domestic honours. I just think Lloris/Poch, etc believe that prioritising the CL will take this club on much further than an odd FA Cup win would, etc.
