Steven Caulker and Ryan Mason got the better of Andros Townsend as the Spurs trio met in League One on Saturday.

Central defender Steven played the full 90 minutes while forward Ryan came on as a 53rd minute substitute as Yeovil beat MK Dons 1-0 at Huish Park. Winger Andros put in a full shift for MK.

Steven, still just 18, has now racked up 35 appearances for Yeovil this season.

Two of our players were up against each other in the Championship and Kyle Naughton came out on top as Middlesbrough beat Adel Taarabt's QPR 2-0 at the Riverside. Kyle played 90 minutes, Adel was a 69th minute substitute.

Jake Livermore played another 90 minutes in central midfield for Peterborough United but his side suffered a 1-0 loss at Swansea.

In League Two, it was no surprise to see David Button keep another clean sheet for promotion-chasing Shrewsbury as they beat Bournemouth 1-0 at New Meadow.

Of our more senior players out on loan, Robbie Keane didn't enjoy his first Old Firm derby as Celtic were beaten by a last-minute goal at Rangers. It means Rangers are 10 points clear in the SPL.

Jamie O'Hara impressed again as Portsmouth beat Burnley 2-1 in the Premier League while Alan Hutton played 90 minutes and almost broke the deadlock with a chance late on as it ended goalless against Fulham.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Giovani claimed two assists as Galatasaray beat Kasimpasa 4-1 at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium.

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but I can't help but think that harry's comments on GDS may, jus MAY have been as bollox as those regarding Pav.

Plays regularly and delivers, just like Pav
  2. spud
So why say anything then, because you know that's what will happen?
  3. Spurs_Bear
Rather than the can of worms being opened, and the last comment in the whole boring shenanigans being from Pav himself:

"Before the game, I worked so hard in training that even Redknapp praised me, which hasn't happened for quite a while,"

It may, just MAY be that his comments weren't 'bollox' in the first place.

But as I said it's a boring subject now, Pav is playing and scoring.

Regarding Giovani, there is a very good video posted by DEFchenKO in his thread in Loanwatch in Spurs Chat:

He definitely gets 1 assist, and gets into some good attacking positions, probably will be disappointed he didn't score, although not that important when they won 4-1. Got a Gala fan at work who said this was his best performance by far since joining.

I'm no expert on Turkish football by any means, but I'm certain that Kasimpasa at home is hardly Man U at OT. Don't get me wrong I'm pleased for him but maybe he's found his level there??
  5. sebo_sek
The praise didn't happen not the training.

I just find it so difficult to believe that he's suddenly decided to switch on after 5 months, and the second he does, he turns into one of the most prominent strikers in the whole country. And the reiterated comments about the respect of his teammates says it all really. If he was lazy, they wouldn't want anything to do with him, but they all like him, so something stinks here.

But for some it's boring. For me it isn't, as a manager with double standards will be disruptive in the long run. King can play unfit, Crouch can keep on playing despite being ineffective (It has taken Pav 4 games to almost equal Crouch's season tally), Keane was given chance after chance and producing zero - BUT Pav was lazy, GDS was lazy (not bought by Harry, which is a coincidence isn't it). And suddenly they get their chance and miraculously they BOTH perform.

That is just such a pathetic argument. I don' think there's much difference between the turkich leaguye and the PL if you eliminate the biggest teams, and no one said GDS was to be an automatic starter, but a sub every other game to gain the OT experience, yes.
  7. philbanger
So pathetic an argument that Colim Kazim-Richards is a superstar out there!! Oh yeah it's just like the prem eh?

And "if you eliminate the biggest teams" - which I reckon is about half the league you've just taken out, is far more pathetic an argument.

I saw Gio in the Europa league against Atletico Madrid here in Spain and I honestly forgot he was playing, he came on as a sub on the 35th minute against an Atletico side which has a very dodgy defense. He hardly had a touch of the ball, Atletico are the team I support in Spain and was looking forward to seeing Gio play but was disappointed. The press said that he never produced the goods against the bigger teams while at Barcelona.

Is anybody from Yeovil watching Caulker, I wouldn't mind an update on his progress. There were a lot of good things said about him a while back, hopefully he will break through to the first team squad next year to understudy King and Woodgate as they limp towards retirement.
Apologies for not mentioning GDS in this post, oh shit.
  10. JimmyG2
Just on Newsnow that Livermore has been recalled.
  11. pistolP
Boring, you should know, Harry's attack dog.
  12. spurs_viola
I agree, Gio had a disappointing game against Atletico Madrid. But perhaps it could also be noted that a) Atletico beat Barcelona 1-0 before that game (where none of Barca stars were allowed to perform to their high standards) and have been in a pretty good form lately; b) Gio has been covering several positions in his short time at Gala and would need a little more time to settle down there.
Encouragingly, his last game showed signs of that improvement.
  13. spurs_viola
Very brave question, which will be/has been attacked by the usual guard dogs before they even consider the possibility.

The fact is that we now have so many midfielders injured and possibly both RMs out for a while yet. And the realistically best other option for attacking right or left midfielder has been excluded from our team, but has now played in every match for a table topping club in Turkey under a far more successful manager/coach with experience at the highest level.

And for those who point to the supposed weakness of Turkish league, let's just remember that in the last 10 years Turkey has finished 3rd in World Cup (where England stopped at QuarterFinals) and got to semis in the last European Championships - where England did not even manage to qualify.
  14. jimmyn16
Gio's strike partners include Harry Kewell and Milan Baros, which does nothing to suggest it's a particularly strong league.

Neither does your argument about the Turkish national team. Greece won the Euros in 2004 but I doubt if many people would argue that it was a reflection of the strength of their domestic league.

Let's hope Gio gets regular playing time, boosts his confidence and returns in the close season ready to fight for a place in the starting line-up.

But please don't equate success in the Turkish league with the EPL.
  15. newbie
Why is it then every time you two apear on a thread it ends up in a slur on Harry, ffs he is no saint but we are 4th, points under Harry = a lot lot more than Ramos! I personally dont care who manages us as long as we play attractive football and win!

Also all this about Harry favourites my god get over it, he is trying to win games you cant play everyone, we have 4 strikers, and Keane is a well established player who lets be honest at some point will regain his form.
  16. spurs_viola
If you bothered to check recently (as opposed to last season), you would see that their main strikers now are Jo and Kader Keita, with Gio asked to play as an attacker too in some games. Neither Kewell nor Baros have been considered good enough for the starting place for some time now.

I take your argument about Greece (although Panathinaikos has just beaten Roma who were 2nd in Serie A in both legs of Europa League and their top teams are regulars in quarterfinal stages of CL), but my point was in response to people who seem to think Turkish league is about the same level as Scottish PL.

Please don't turn that point into an attempt to equate TSL and EPL
  17. jimmyn16
Nice try but Kewell and Baros are injured at the moment. Despite this fact, Kewell is Gala's leading scorer this season with 8. Baros has 5 and the two fellas you mention have 5 between them.

I don't mind you making a case for Gio, just please don't twist the facts (or suggest I haven't checked them).
