Well all those who were rubbishing Van Gaal's record because Tim Sherwood was obviously the best manager for us must be fucking delighted at this.

Typical Spurs, though. The one time we have a chance to appoint one of the most successful managers ever, a genuine big name, star attraction managerial great it gets swiped away from us by Manchester fucking United sacking their manager after less than a year having sacked a manager for the first time in 28 years.

I'd say lock this thread and banish it to the depths of SC, but it will be funny to bump it when Man Utd inevitably win the league next season as a reminder to all of the naysayers insisting Van Gaal was shit because he hadn't won a league title whilst being in charge of the Dutch national team.
Really does feel like we're cursed sometimes, just too many things like this....

Real shame - but hopefully it will be a silver lining when the new man we do hire goes on to be a stable long term success for the club rather than the short term option LVG would have been (even if the rise to success may have been more rapid under LVG)

Would Ancelotti keep his job if Real Madrid lose the CL final to their city rivals? They've already lost the league title to them. The way I see it, he's got to win that final. A defeat would be unacceptable for Real Madrid. But knowing our luck he'd get sacked and turn us down for Monaco!

Just because he would of been great for us, doesnt mean he will be for united

It's going to be interesting seeing how well LVG does at United.

He is going to have to hit the ground running, but with his focus on Holland and the World Cup, he is not going to have much pre season time to get his ideas across to the players. I also think he has a massive rebuilding job to do at UTD and again, because of the World Cup, not much time to do it in.

I'd be surprised if they did. Who would they replace him with?

He's a top quality manager and I'm sure he'll get them working. The players will want to play for him and players will want to join United and play for him. They'll be back in contention for top 4 next season. Not sure about title challenging, depends on who he brings in in the summer. We're really not going to get much of a look in for a top 4 spot next season. :(

Which is why I hope the new manager takes the EL more seriously as it's our best chance...
