Reported Spurs target signs for former French champions.

Lyon have completed the signing of defender Dejan Lovren from Dynamo Zagreb.

Lovren, who had been linked with a move to Tottenham in the transfer window, joins the former French champions for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal which will see him remain at Stade Gerland until 2014.

Zagreb confirmed the transfer via a statement on the club's official website, which read: "Starting from today (Wednesday), Dejan Lovren is officially a Lyon player having signed a contract with the club."

Lyon are sixth in Ligue 1 after a rocky start and have been desperate to bolster their weak defence this term.

They have conceded eight goals in their last five league games and sit 13 points adrift of leaders Bordeaux.

us or lyon dont think we must have been in 4 him as its a no brainer
  3. bryanabutler
We missed out on a very good player there
  4. spurslenny
Lyon probably guarenteed him a place in the first 11, which
    I doubt we could do

ya snooze ya lose, Levy wants money in before parting with any, personally i don't like how he does this, surely we'd make it back on Pav and O'hara so its immaterial in which order we buy/sell? . i just hope he dosnt fanny about over Sandro or we'll lose him to someone else too.

I don't think this is how Lyon operates - the biggest team in France doesn't guarantee anything me thinks.

As for the no brainer part?
Lyon - CL every year, easy league, he's young so he wants to learn, a guaranteed pop at the title.

Us - No CL (fingers crossed this changes), similar money, tougher league, no guarantee of having a bigger chance of silverware than any other team outside the top three (excluding Liverpool ).

So not as evident a no brainer as was suggested.

Our megalomania for being the mighty Spurs must stop, or at least we should be realistic. We are NOT in the same brackets as Lyon.

We don't need him, he would hinder the progress of Dorian Dervette
  8. the shelf
I guarantee you that Dorian Dervitte will be at another club this time next year, nowhere near good enough.
  9. Chedozie

    I know, it was ironic.

In all seriousness Chedozie and the shelf:

Is Dorian Dervitte no-where near good enough because of the 1 bad game he had against celtic?

Or because as he hasn't played since then and no-one has tried to buy him, he can't be?

Because until this pre-season, he had a growing reputation very promising defender.

Despite many people's narrow sight, Lyon are a very attractive team to join. We're probably not a very good option for a young defender to join right now. We have two very experienced defenders who when fit are both around international level and two defenders covering who are doing a very good job, unless he's special right now I don't see how we could accomodate him.

Playing for the biggest team in France who are regularly in the CL and title race is a more attractive proposition for many players than us.
  12. Chedozie

You are right beuller, we should not mock poor Dorian, when on loan last season at Southend, they raved about him, indeed got himself called up to the French U21's on the back of his performances at Roots Hall.

So what has gone wrong? One poor pre season game can't be it, he said in the summer he wanted to leave, i think he meant play. As to why he is not on loan anywhere i don't know.
  13. beuller

I know, He seems to have disappeared.

If he isn't injured surely we should have loaned him out.

I personally thought he looked half decent. He had a nightmare against celtic which was unfortunate (And I remember him getting totally written off on here) but 1 bad game doesn't maketh the man. If that were the case there would only be 2 players at the club.

What I know, is that spurs refused to sell him for 2 Mio last summer to Ajax or Villareal and Hoffenheim; then proposed him a new contract that he refused to sign . Because of that, the club refused any loan to all teams who asked for him, and there were more than a couple...
Dear Harry lied during the meeting with the fans last year when someone asked him and he said Dorian refused to go on loan.
This is still the situation . He got a multiple jaw's fracture couple of months ago during training but has been back training for few weeks, waiting for the end of his contract. He should actually be free to sign now as thats his last season. I dont understand why he wasnt sold in summer as his value is now 0 for spurs. Wise management or the club has too much money.... why keeping a player that you dont rate when he's asked by others?
I (along with others) saw him several times in the past years with the reserve and at southend where he was brilliant and far above the others . The way this young promising player has been treated by the club and some "fans" on this forum is far to be fair...
  15. beuller

Very interesting! Is this common knowledge that I have totally missed? Or ITK?
  16. vigospur
So to sum up, Rednapp doesn't rate him, refused to sell him for 2 mill, refused to allow him to go on loan and insisted on keeping him until he could leave on a free. How is this man still in a job?
  17. Chedozie

Because he's the best manager we've had since Juande Ramos.
  18. guynaisse
why?:duh: because foot is business: If he signs an extension, he goes on loan immediately, will perform and I can sell him more than 2 M next season. If he doesnt perform he comes back and I can sell it 2 or a bit less but its worth trying with this kind of young player which is also France U21.
By the way, its the chairman who decides who, how much and when... not HR.
