I don’t want to keep going on about Carrasco in this thread, not least because it’s never going to happen, but do you honestly see us signing a player for £70m, £80m, £90m on wages that would no doubt be in line with the fee. You’d probably be looking at between £150k and £250k a week. Come on, that alone is completely unrealistic. That’s before you even factor in all the bigger and richer clubs that are also no doubt gonna be all over him. In a world where Van Dijk is going for £75m, we are not getting Yannick Carrasco. Chelsea F.C. alone means we are not signing Carrasco. The chance of us signing him was when Atlético did.

Not gonna get into it again cos I simply can't be bothered and equally this isn't the Carrasco thread but I can't even begin to explain how much it annoys me when I see the words "never gonna happen" in any player thread.

Instead I will respectfully disagree.

Sky in Italy: Lucas Moura's agents to meet with Napoli tomorrow. Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng Taishan have also come in.

Agents going their jobs. They have spoken to so many clubs already. But deal is financially complicated for anybody.

PSG really need to shift some players to keep within FFP . Neymar and the upcoming Mbappe transfer have caused this. There might be a bargain right at the end of this window or the next
I think it's probably the most likely scenario other than signing no-one at this point. I'm not 100% sold on Moura and would prefer Malcom. I get the impression Moura doesn't want to move to England, which is why it may be unlikely.

Money talks.. Ambition my shit. Even Alexis has no interest to win a PL medal. Unless of course manure just pipe it this season which I highly doubt is possible.

he wants to leave. if you google him there are plenty of quotes of him saying he's talked to the manager and he knows he's done at PSG, and he's said he admires the prem. as far as a fee, PSG bought him for 42 million euros, he doesnt play for them, has 18 months on his contract and they need to shed some players for FFP. I suspect he's going somewhere at a reasonable fee.

Indeed we've gone from a world where signing for a team in the CL was the main thing to now where it doesn't matter if the team is even in europe. If they can pay you 200k per week then it's 95% of the battle for their signature.

It seems like we do hold a genuine interest in Lucas so if he fancies the Prem over Italy or China then we'd have a shot but even then, the fact that PSG want a lot for him and seemingly won't accept a loan deal will likely rule us out.

We'll see I guess.

Hi Guys,

Reports have linked Spurs with a move for Lucas Moura this month. Our Ligue 1 expert believes he's a gamble Spurs should risk taking.

"Lucas offers another option in the final third and if he can find consistency, he could be just enough to tip the Champions League battle in the direction of whichever club he joins.

If the price is right, or he can be signed on loan, Lucas would be a good and positive January signing. However, don’t expect a game-changer who will single-handedly take a game by the scruff of the neck."

Profiling Lucas Moura

Cheers,

Sam

I wonder if this is a dilemma that has been presented to Poch. Take Moura now or be patient and wait until the summer for others to be easier to obtain? It's a hard job ain't it.

Even more difficult when you're following an extremely strict budget. One wrong choice could mean your summer budget suddenly requires a sale to rectify the decision.

Being in the CL/winning trophies never mattered, it just used to be that the teams that were in the CL were the only ones that could pay the top wages.
