How the flying fuck in all that is holy can the word 'black' be used as a racist insult, you're describing the colour of someone's skin. :bang:

Yes you could call someone a black ****, but then the black bit isn't the offensive bit.
So you are seriously trying to tell me that calling someone a black **** isn't racist?

Frankly any word you chose to take in the English language (and Spanish apparantly now ) can be put into a racist context.
Nope.

I think it's you who is missing the point. In this country, any reference to a person's race or skin colour in a derogatory manner is deemed racism.

Really it amazes me how some of you guys don't get the point at all, and you think Suarez is the narrow minded one? !

Well, what you're saying isn't necessarily wrong in theory - but that's not really what happened. He seems to be have been using racially specific words to deliberately wind up/insult Evra.

Futhermore, when you say: Yes you could call someone a black ****, but then the black bit isn't the offensive bit

Well, any adjective you tack onto the insult is part of it. You wouldn't say: You home-owning ****! The description is part of the insult and that it will invariably be a fact means it's actually more offensive/dangerous.

That's kind of the whole thing about discrimination...

So calling someone black 10 times during an argument is apparently ok in some people's eyes? Mental.

How can a word have racist connotations if it doesn't exist in that language

Because the word has now been introduced into the English language and as I explained to you a few pages back, is already being used as a racial insult.

Just look at the Stan Collymore thing yesterday. Someone said to him "When are you going to to a Garry Speed? Negrito".

That's why it doesn't matter where the word has come from, in England it is already being used to abuse black people.

brasilspur - you are a clown and one who wont get far in life with an attitude/mentality like the one you have shown above. To claim calling someone a "black ***" isnt racist is embaressing. It is clearly a derogatory term otherwise they wouldnt use the word "black".

You a fucking clown and an illeterate one at that apprantly, re-read my post, i never said that, what i said was that the black bit wasn't the offensive bit, so read things properly, if you're able to, and chill out before you post.

Pringle, i used to think you were half decent, but apparantly you're quite the wanker, happy Xmas.

:rofl: i guess you have not heard of irony then?:rofl:

and re the black comment - referring to someones skin colour when throwing an insult is generally deemed as derogatory and racist. As said - stunned that you didnt know that! You go up to a pakistani person and say the following and see how they respond "if I were to call you a paki twat, which word would be the most offensive?". Infact - I beat you to it. My missus is pakistani and I asked her - you clown.

Yeah but that doesn't matter, it's here now and is currently being used as a racial slur up and down the country by small minded idiots.

There are Liquorice sweets for singers called 'Nigroids' which you can buy in almost any Chemist in England, ther's nothing racist about them in any way shape or form. However, if I was having an argument with a black person and repeatedly called them a 'Nigroid', I'd fully expect it to be taken as racism and I'd deserve to be charged.

It's all about the way Suarez said what he said and Evra quite rightly took offence to it. He might not have meant to be racist but he still should have known better than to refer to skin colour during an argument. He's lived in Europe for how many years?

You don't use any type of word like nigger, negro, negrito, nigroid, niglet, nig nog etc during an argument with a black person. You're asking for trouble if you do, it's as simple as that.

At the end of the day he shouldn't have said it. He is a professional footballer and should understand that referring to someone's race is unacceptable.
But why is racism considered so taboo while other forms of bullying are not? Whether it is about skin colour, the colour of their hair, their weight, the fact they wear glasses, sexuality or sex, all cases now should be treated the same. Otherwise it is "positive" discrimination, which is still discrimination. John Terry calling someone a black **** should be treated the same as someone saying you fat ****. Where is the difference?

(sorry if someone's brought this up already, but I wasn't going to read 29 pages).

I haven't read through RAWK yet but have any of them used the term "Hillsborough for this generation"?
I say that because last year they used it about the Torres transfer and the apparent comparable horror of being managed by Roy Hodgson.

@ Lilbaz

I think it has something to do with Marxist social engineering but there ya go I'm just some internet crazy.

I've said for a long time why is racism or homophobia worse than any other insult. It seems to come from the top as racism and homophobia are prosecutable under law while the fat ginger with goggles gets no protection whatsoever.

Add to that that anti-semitism carries even worse conatations than just a regular plain ole racist.

This... It all comes down to insulting someone!! If someone pisses you off who is clearly fat whilst driving to work you shout out or mutter to yourself the first thing that comes to mind.? Fat twat get a driving license and stop eating. (along them lines) Would you get arrested for that?? If the guy was black and you shouted fat black twat would you get arrested? Yes. But when describing someone in a crowd of people who is the only one who is black, and you were to say the black guy on the left. Would you get arrested for that?? No. MMmmm? I dont know:shrug: Ps, im not a racist. I think everyone is equal. Have i muttered the words above?? not sure. Has anyone else in the heat of the moment?? Difference is saying it 10 times to someones face.

Why were you so upset when someone called you a white bastard if racial abuse isn't worse than normal abuse?

Yes let's prosecute the entire L'Pool team. Ban them all, in fact ban the team from ever playing in England again. Make them play in Nicaragua, that'll teach them.

It was a 'fucking white bastard' actually. The point was I had received several warnings and infractions some of which were for apparantly being racist yet I hadn't said anything even close to what was said to me. Do you think I'd still be around to tell the tale if I had said the same to a black poster just changing the white part?

Not having a go at the mods, it's just the way it is. Racism against whites is far more tolerated kinda like the ginger, fat, or goggle wearing is too.
