The point was I had received several warnings and infractions some of which were for apparantly being racist yet I hadn't said anything even close to what was said to me. Do you think I'd still be around to tell the tale if I had said the same to a black poster just changing the white part?

Partially you have a point, any abuse that adversely affects someone when the reason for that abuse is nothing they can do anything about it, is clearly wrong , i.e.: ginger, big eared whatever.

However you would be hard pushed to find people who discriminate against everyone who is ginger or big eared, i.e. they come from the viewpoint that all gingers are scum and should be treated as such. Most will use ginger or fat or big eared as a perjorative term simply because they're trying to be hurtful in the moment. Racism, because of it's history ( i.e. the generally accepted view in the past that all black people were subhuman ), carries enormous weight. Anyone who isn't aware of that weight has clearly not been living in the society the rest of us have and so if they use it in the same way that they would fat or ginger they're perhaps not inherently racist just ridiculously stupid. That said a quick trawl of the internet will chuck up plenty of forums devoted to racism , normally under the guise of nationalism, and almost none devoted to the hatred of every single fat person on the planet. The two are so far removed from each other it's stupid to argue that they should be considered in the same breath.

I've not read any of this thread and i'm not about to go through it as I realy can't be bothered. I agree with KY though from the last few pages. There are different levels of acceptance depending on what's fashionable, and i'm talking about different races not whether a fella has ginger hair or not.

I'll give you one example. I drive a cab and on occasion when i pick up students they sometimes come out with a lot of racist talk with regards to the their Chinese counterparts. Whether it's because they see them as too straight or keen I really don't know (if it is i suggest they grow up as that reminds me of being at school), and also it's usually the girls that come out with it (god knows why that is). That just wouldn't ever happen with regards to talking about black people or probably any other race or colour of skin. Why are people from the Orient fair game when it comes to racism? but black peiople aren't? Is it because of slavery? I'm pretty sure black people aren't the only ones who went through it.

Agree that racism is still an issue and should be stamped out. But you still get children and adults who have committed suicide over bullying. One should not be considered above the other because the victim is from an ethnic minority. If it is done with hate then it should be treated in that context and should be treated with the same punishment. Also racists aren't all white.

I'm not saying racism doesn't exist. It does exist hence the mention of no white go areas that you refuse to accept or even look into. What I've said and what I maintain is that life affecting abuse i.e. didn't get the job/promotion, didn't get the social invite, or whatever is the same net result for the person at the end of it. The same is said for offending a person. How do you think Bale feels when getting monkey boy chants?
