Like some have said, best I've seen play during my 20 odd years supporting Spurs. Magic on the ball

I was more upset when he left than I was when Bale went, he is such a class act, wasted at Madrid, their fans don't or at least dint appreciate what they had on their hands, which shows how plastic they are

Watching him warm up before the AC Milan game was a joy. Small teams playing keep ball - His touch was sublime and he made other players look inept. Great player, shame he left under a cloud.

Not to sound condescending at all to our overseas fans/fans who cannot feasibly get to watch us, who i am sure if they could they would have been at the lane, but Modric really was a player who to really appreciate what he did you HAD to watch him live, every single pass that supporters would call from the stands he would play (bearing in mind we as fans are watching from the stands and can see the whole pitch), he truely was a joy to watch and one of the greatest footballers iv seen live, such a talent and despite the shit he pulled with him forcing the move, i will always feel honoured to have watched him pull on the lillywhite.

This gets on my nerves to be honest - just reminds me of all the times we've had a stand-out, world class player only to see them leave, one at a time, every time. It's all very well saying nice stuff about us but it's completely and utterly meaningless TBH.

Wish for once we could see the likes of Modric, Bale, Berbatov etc all at the club together. Makes it even worse seeing him at Madrid with Bale and going on about their relationship because of their time at Spurs. It's like they're blatantly saying "our time at the stepping stone to where I wanted to be".

Our current squad is the opposite, no real stars at all (though Alli will quickly become one), which whilst great to see in many ways, is also slightly disappointing that there's no 'star name' up in lights to go and watch at the Lane.

Having said that, we'd all be spending every week wondering when they'd be leaving if we did have them.

A reminder of the frustration of being a Spurs fan.

Loved Luka when he was here. The Chelsea courting is really hard to look past.
While he was brilliant he is no where close to the best player I've seen play for our club - to name a few:
Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza, Bale

We've been lucky enough to have had some fantastic players wear the shirt over the last 10 years.

For that I'm grateful

I remember all these players and I think Modric was better than any of them. Different talents and strengths but Hoddle was so naturally gifted but looked better than he was as the game was so slow and we were shit most of the time. Great natural ability but not the hardest worker. Waddle was great for us for a season or two but I'd rather have Ginola. Gazza was potentially great but over rated (because he was English) by many for what he actually did. England were crying out for a star at the time and he came the closest to it but he wasted it so badly.
Bale was the best of the lot but I prefer the type of player Modric was for us - he made everyone around him better. To me Ardiles is the closest thing in our history that compares.

When I say our history I mean the last 40 years or so that I remember.

Modric said of Spurs: 'I follow them a lot. Almost whenever I can, I watch them playing.

'They're playing really well, amazing, they have a good coach and they are very close to winning the league,' he added.

'And I wish them all the best and cross fingers for them to win it because I think they are capable of [doing it] because they are playing really good football.'

When asked whether he has unfinished business in the Premier League, Modric replied: 'No, I don't look that way.
'I had four great years in Tottenham and I enjoyed my time there. I had support from everyone - from the fans, especially - and I will be always grateful for all [the] love that they showed me during these years.'

Modric went on to say: 'I still have two and a half more years on my contract and I will try to be here as long as possible.'

Lilywhites striker Harry Kane has netted 15 goals in the league to help propel his team to second in the table ahead of arch-enemies Arsenal, and Modric has recalled watching the 22-year-old coming through the ranks at Spurs' old Chigwell training ground.

'You could see that he is a hard worker in training. Sometimes he used to come to training in short sleeves and outside it was minus five [degrees Celsius].

'What I saw at that time is that he is a very hard worker and you can see that now on the pitch.'

Los Blancos lie in third position in La Liga, with 50 points from 23 games, one off city rivals Atletico in second, and four off first-placed enemies, Barcelona; Zidane's side next face Athletic Bilbao at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Spurs have 48 points from 25 games, five fewer than table-toppers Leicester City, and are above the Gunners on goal difference; Tottenham take on fourth-placed Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Modric was by far the best midfield player I've seen at Tottenham and I'd go as far as to say I think he's the most underrated world footballer that I've ever seen too. I'm glad people at Madrid are finally seeing his influence because I've been watching every game and he is far better than kroos ever had been but has never been perceived the same.

He was a great player for us and always gave his all. The Chelsea tapping up he made a mistake but when he returned in the third game that season we went on to play until March the best football for 20 years with him the instigator. Spurs fans on the whole can be a little precious about players leaving and being loyal but sometimes need to realise whilst these players love the club, they have relative short careers and want to achieve. We had a chance to be a big club and redknapp and his team blew it from match onwards. If we'd been playing CL I think he'd have stayed. Need to realise world class players need to be on the big stage and modric for one gave his all each time he pulled the shirt on for 4 years! I don't blame him for going to the worlds biggest club he deserved it after his performances. Sabe with Bale.

I was always amazed we signed him in the first place. It was so obvious he was going to be a bit special.
